    Glock DryFireMag

Bought one last Tuesday, arrived today, and it's terrible.
Doesn't replicate the trigger or feedback at all, it's exactly like a mouse click.

    Pros:
I can imagine some positives for competition shooters walking a stage.
Practice dry fire drawing/firing from a holster.
    Seems well made.
Can't think of any other atm.

    Cons:
    It's a g17 mag.
Trigger pull is absolutely nothing like the real thing, same for reset.
There's no break, there's a click and then more mushy travel. The real deal has a trashy takeup then a disrupting break and full stop.
Weights about 122 grams, a loaded g19 mag weighs about 260 with 115gr.
Apparently not set correctly to mimic Glock trigger stop, you have to adjust a screw but still doesn't represent firing pin drop.

    Summary:
They need to redesign their training tool by adding a weighted mechanism to simulate the firing pin drop, eliminate travel after the break, and increase mag weight.

I am completely satisfied with my Dry Fire Mag that when it broke, I even got a new one...

Really helped in dry practice since I didn't have the time and funds to go to the range and work on live fire. And there is really not much practice you can do with square static indoor ranges, anyways...

Well, people are different, but at least in my case - it worked extremely well in my evolution as a shooter.

You know you can tune it to match your firearm, right?

Yes, I use one in my G26. Mine feels the same as dry firing with out it. Got lucky I guess. But there are set screws that allow setting the reset feel and trigger break.

I disagree, it's not even remotely close to a real trigger press.

Even after adjustment? Mine is very close, close enough that I didn't try to adjust it. Give them a call, you may have gotten a bad one.

Can you use the dry fire mag with snap caps?

I don't think so. It is designed to give you the dry fire feeling without needing to keep cycling the slide. You can even use it with the slide off, but not sure why you would. Once installed, you just pull the trigger, it will snap just like you dry fired, then as you release the trigger, you feel the trigger reset and you can pull it again. Like a cap gun. Mine works great, not sure why Free is having problems.

Thanks for the info. Does the striker actually strike into an empty chamber when using the dry fire mag? I'd be concerned about potential breech face damage if it did.

No, like I wrote, you can actually use it with the slide off to watch how the mechanism works. It mimics the firing pin/trigger action, with no actual firing pin movement. Magic!

Good to know. I may need to buy one.

These magazines are around $100 and if they work for you that's great but some one could use a cheaper solution that gives an extra benefit.

One of these less than $40 drop in red laser "shooting" dummy rounds.

( 2nd generation G site models seemed to have better reviews and if you get a .380 ACP model it'll work in a 9 mm semi-auto and in a .38 Special revolver (with maybe just a little electrical tape wrapped around it).

Sure you have to rack the slide every time ( the laser cartridge is rimless so it doesn't eject you just push it out of the barrel when you're done training.) if you want the firing pin to hit the switch on the back of the dummy round laser and "shoot" the target but you can also use it to see if you are flinching or able to shoot a target without the use of your sights.

And of course you're also getting the exact trigger field that you would if it was a live round.

Trigger practice, target practice and even slide racking practice (although that last one can come back to bite you, if you unfortunately develop muscle memory for yanking the slide after every single shot.)

Interesting. First I'd heard of it.
