Red Dot adjustment reversed, why?

    I get the fact that you need to move it opposite from where the bullet is landing on paper. But the dot still should move the way that the optic says it will. Lots of optics have an arrow that says R or L or up/down. And its always opposite then what it tells you its going to do.

    Kinda annoying.
    Lol I was like.... when I move the dot to the right, point of impact should adjust the right as well haha.

    I plan to zero it disregarding the iron sights or just use a laser boresight.

      This brings up my next question....

      With a match grade barrel (probably irrelevant), perfectly aligned front sights, and centered rear sight with calipers, technically the POI should be "right on the dot" with XS Big Dot sights right? (or any proven accurate pistols out of the box such as the P226).

        If the gun were in a fixed vise, it will shoot where it's pointed no matter what the sights say, right? It will do this forever no matter how you adjust the dot/scope/iron sights.

        So what you want to do is to make your aiming device point to where the gun is shooting. Point the crosshairs/dot/sight to the same location, say the middle of the bullseye for several shots (I like 5 but 3 will do). The holes will probably be centered somewhere else. Hold/Lock the gun down and adjust the elevation from the center of the bullseye to the center of your shot group. Then adjust your windage int the same fashion.

        Assuming your sighting device is not loose, it will now point to where your gun is shooting. You don't have to worry about left/right/up/down or minutes per click.

        No. There will be lockup tolerances in the frame holding the barrel and elevation movement due to recoil. The advantage of a "match grade" barrel is that the offset should be very consistent. That's what you want, consistency, not absolute accuracy. If the bullets will hit consistently in the same spot, you can adjust for the offset and get a nice small group. When sighting in a gun, if you can get a 1/2" group centered 2" to the left of the bullseye, it is much better than a 1.5" group centered around the bullseye.

          Your open sights/mini holo dot should strike your point of aim as long as your open sights are absolute co-witness. So your open sights in the same plain as the red dot.
          Most suppressor sights have their plain of sighting in the lower 1/3 of the window.
          It’s easy to tell.
          If your open sights seem to obscure half of your holo glass then that is an absolute co-witness.

          So most of my mini holos are lower 1/3rd.
          The projected dot/triangle of mine sits on top of the front sight when holding the firearm out to the target.

          I always sight minis for POI at 25 yards.
