    OMC -BACK UP- .380

Looks like I will be inheriting this OMC Back Up in a month or two. Turns out no one else in the family is interested in this oddball little shooter.

Any info about these handguns would be greatly appreciated. Anyone out there have one?

I cleaned it up and took it to the range this morning. It ran like a top, put the rounds right in there at 5 yards. It's kind of like shooting a mini 1911.

I have an older version when the company was named AMT for pocket carry.
It does the job under 7 yards. The magazine shape only holds round nose bullets like golden sabers. Big hollow points get hung up unless it's the top 2 rounds. You can get magazines with a pinky hook for a better grip. Also watch the back of the firing pin. Mine seems to be soft metal that flares with too many hammer hits, resulting in a stuck firing pin and misfires.

Thanks for the info. Post a pic of yours if the spirit moves.

After a little net surfing, looks like OMC was the original manufacturer. AMT purchased tooling and the rights and began producing the "AMT -Back U-".

Also made under the IAI name. These have a spotty rep but if kept clean and used with round bullet profiles some work quite well.

Magazines run about $50 or so on eBay.

I have a friend with an AMT backup .380. It has the heaviest kick of any .380 I've fired and I own 3 different .380s.

          Good gun though.
