    Differences Between Sig 1911 Models

I am considering picking up a Sig 1911 but was wondering what some of the differences are between the various Sig 1911 models. Specifically, I was wondering what the differences are between the Sig 1911 .45 Black Nitron and the Sig 1911 .45 Black Nitron SLite. The listed specs on Rifle Gear are exactly the same.

Sig only has the -CA model on the price list now, so the standard Nitron is a great way to save $50

Other than that, the guns are the same except for a different style of hammer.

I don't know if this makes a difference but I have 2 sig 1911s that have the two different hammers like on those nitons. My XO has the same hammer as the Nitron SLite. The trigger pull on that gun is pretty darn good. I also have a traditional match 9mm that had the same hammer as the regular Nitron. The trigger pull on that gun was kind of crappy for a "target" gun. I replaced the hammer and sear on it with a Kimber hammer sear set and it now has a good trigger pull. I know that's a small sample of guns but it was my experience. If you can try the trigger before you buy.

Interesting...I guess I will see if I can try the triggers on the two models. It may very well be worth the extra $50 for the SLite. Thank you for the insight.

                Both models have night sights.

My buddy has a sig 1911 and it's a real pleasure to shoot. They are excellent guns. I don't know about the differences between but I'm sure they are all quality.

They kinda like kimber. By that i mean many models with only cosmetic (for lack of better word) differences. With sig, you have different finishes, different sights, some have ambi-safety, some dont. Some have checkered front straps, others dont. Some may have aluminium frames and most others steel. Specific to sig: you have some that are more of a traditional 1911 cut slide and others that are more sig-like 1911 slides, (similar to a p series 22x auto). Each variation is another sku #.

I personally, would have trouble accepting that a 1911 with front strap checkering is "better" than one without. Although, to be honest, i prefer it. Not Springfield TRP front strap checkering mind you, but more Dan Wesson front strap checkering

I would agree with cinnamonbear above, they are all pretty darn good. Only you can determine if the differences are worth it/needed.
