Picked up a Used Redhawk today

My first wheelgun. Chambered in .44 mag. Serial number look-up shows it was manufactured between 95-96. This thing must have been someone's safe queen because there is hardly any sign of use. Taking it to the range tomorrow.

More important to me than you finding that great gun is hearing it will actually be used, not only fondled over a glass of Cabernet.

Oh absolutely. If all goes well tomorrow at the range it's going to be my sidearm on hunting trips.

Congratulations! I have a Ruger Security-Six in .357 that came with the same style grips.

If the gun seems a bit much after a long session, you may want to go with a pair of Pachmeyers.

You will grip the gun better and recoil will be a cakewalk.

              p.s. im a little jealous.

I have one just like it and love it. Two things get the Pachmeyer grips as suggested and pick up some Remington green box 44 mag it throws a nice flame and is nice and loud.

I think RedHawks are great. Yours is the first blued model I have seen. One great feature is the front sight and rear blade can be swapped out. Ruger used to offer a bead front sight and a V rear sight that is great for long range shooting.

My biggest fear is that one day I will die and my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them.

OP, you have now created quite a controversy with me. I was intended to get a 9MM but seeing that 44 MAG, now I want a companion for my S&W 686. Like my Smith, I would shoot the snot out of it.

And blued at that! You’re setting the bar a little high for your first round gun, huh?

If you reload you could make some 44 spl wad cutters to make really nice big round holes in a paper target. Not a bad way to figure out the trigger and sights either.
