    1911A Question on pricing

I have a 1911A1 that i might be looking to sell but have no idea what its worth. I have brought it to a gunshop and they said keep it i will not be able to offer what's it worth. It also has a 22 retro for target.. Divorce forcing me to sell some of my guns. I have attached pics for review.
    Any help appreciated

Looks like someone modified this pistol for target shooting. Jim Clark made a similar looking pistol in the early 70s. But this one appears to be modified by someone else. The front strap work is not very appealing either. But this is only my opinion. I’m sure more knowledgeable folks on the 1911 will chime in with better info.

I would suspect that without some solid documentation as to who did the modifications, it will be neither valued as a collector, nor custom. An original Clark modified 1911 is probably going for anywhere between $2 and 4K depending on condition. But this particular pistol, in my opinion, is probably worth around $1000-$1200 with the conversion kit.

I would suggest you keep it and try to restore it.

      ^^^
That is a very generous estimate. Not sure about the 22 conersion kit but the gun in that condition, especially that front strap beaver job, I'd say $600 or so at best. It will cost about 2K worth of gunsmith work to bring that gun back.
No disrespect to OP or the poor gun that has been butchered so.

Not sure who did the modifications.. My Step father would competition target shoot way way back. Maybe a practice gun, as there were plenty plenty more 1911's in the collection.

It's an old Military Remington Rand pistol, the front strap appears to be stippled using a technic common for the time period. Along with the full length top strap. I recently came across a modified Remind Rand that was on display at about $700, it was gone the next time I went in. It's a peice of history in own right and probably a great shooter. Probably worth $850-$1050 with the conversion upper, depending on how fast you want to sell it.

Whose the manufacturer of the barrel?
That might be a great shooter.

It looks like the 22 Conversion is marked Kart Sporting Arms..

I'd say Fred Kart's setup is equal to or better than other .22 conversions for the 1911. Not sure on value, but that should be easy with a little auction arms or gun broker searching. My Kart conversion shoots as accurately as my Model 41 or K-22.

As was posted, the front strap texturing is period correct...I personally would not have an issue with it even on a more modern 1911.

OP, if / when you're ready for a quick sale, please send me a PM.

Well as I understand it the modifications are period-correct however you're going to have a hard time probably finding somebody to give you top dollar for a Remington Rand it's been modified. I could be wrong, but the value of a Remington Rand is far higher nowadays than it was back then.
