HK USP45 Grey frame is back

Since they were released around this time last year I've always wanted to get one. I missed the batch from last year but found one at Ammo Bros in Cerritos in the glass case. It was priced @ $929 and they had just received that one so I put it on layaway. You may see another batch start trickling into dealers soon. Here's a stock pic of it.

They look so good in grey in my opinion. I have a grey VP9 but would love to get a matching USP45.

Two things I'm definitely going to do is replace the micro mag release and install a match trigger kit.

It's interesting how, when the original batch of 500 was released many years ago, there was very little interest in them. They sat on shelves until they were discounted to near cost just to clear them out.

Once they were no longer available, the H&K collectors started searching for them, and bidding strongly to obtain them on sites like Gunbroker; often driving the price to well over $1k.

The same happened with the original OD colored run. I remember seeing an OD custom combat go for over $1700 on GB a few years ago.

Guys that paid $1200 or $1300 to get the "rare" gray frame examples a few years ago are probably kicking themselves now!

That's the problem with "collecting" H&K. You never know when they will re-release a discontinued model and turn a former high-value unicorn into a standard commodity.

I did always like the look of the urban gray USP; just never picked one up. I do have one of the original OD examples though.

                ...
Yes and no. I collected my OD HKs about 5 years ago and the most I paid for any of them was sticker for HK45 tactical. I lost out on a OD USP combat with the speed chute and case and 6 mags because the guy wouldn't ship to CA.

For the eccentric HK collectors, there will always be a "AE" date code to contrast the new grey framed USPs from the original 500.
Grey frames are on 'the list,' but with whole BBAW madness and some revolver collecting, i've let my semi-auto hunting/purchases take a breather.

^ very nice OD group there!

And good point on the date code.

That makes me wonder if my early date code NIB USP Expert is worth anything more than the newer production examples.
