    G26...Need Extended Mag Release?

Just got a G26 Gen 3 out of jail today. In checking the mag release, the mags do not release with a basic thumb slide/push....I have to turn the gun sideways and push the release directly in, literally twice as far as I want to, before the mag pops free.

Are all G26s like this? Who has switched to an extended mag release....and did it solve the problem?

Or would I have to modify the magazines some?

I want to add it to my CCW....but it needs work, it is unacceptable as it stands.

I have a stock Gen 3 and have no issues with mine. Is yours new or used?

I am having the exact same problem with my brand new G29sf.

I ordered an extended magazine release from Magill's Glockstore.

It has yet to arrive in the mail so I do not know if it will rectify the issue or not.

I have a g27, the same frame but in .40. I never noticed an issue with the mag release. I used in in IDPA for a couple years, so I would have noticed any issues.

Get yourself a Vickers mag catch. It falls perfectly in between stock and extended catches.

The Vickers/Tango Down extended mag release is the way to go.

I put extended releases on all my glocks- even my ccw ones.
No issues at all. Depending on your holster, it could cause an issue.

Just a thought from a long-time Glock user who's seen some folks struggle with the mag release. I believe it's mainly a technique-issue and due to the design, a person needs to ensure his/her hand and fingers are absolutely clear of the opposite side of the mag catch as it needs to protrude from the right side as the left side is depressed.

The Vickers mag catch should still be a good part to install, but still won't help if the right side is being blocked by one's hand/fingers somehow.

I've got the same issue with my 26 but not my 36. It's all part of the Glock Perfection.

If you are going to CCW a glock with a extended mag release, depending on the holster and where you carry, you may find the extended release jabbing into your skin. I left the extended Glock mag release on my "range / IDPA match" glock but took it off the one I sometimes carry.

High speed and low drag aside. Changing mags is a 2 handed operation. Gun runs dry. Grab full mag. Mag hand/thumb pushes the button, out pops the empty mag. In goes the full mag and run the slide and you're in business.
You also have the benefit of not changing your grip at all.
OP should shoot the thing a bunch before accessorizing it right out of the gate IMO. Training issue [emoji848]
For a ccw I just don't like extensions on any of my guns. Competition guns are different animals. Ergos/speed /precision rule the day. No?

I practiced with mag changes last night for quite a bit on this G26....don’t need to go shooting to eval that....and yeah, the problem is that I have to alter my grip rather significantly to get repeated mag ejections, even then not 100% effective. This release is just hard to push the required travel distance 100% of the time....the spring is firm and the button is short.

The Vickers, by pictures and reports, seems to be only about another 1mm longer or so in length, so that may be all I need.

My only other Glock is a G34 that comes with a Glock extended mag release, but I don’t think I need or want one that long since it’s an intended CCW application.

This “accessory” is cheap and reversible....not a big experiment.

I'm wondering if the previous owner deeked with it.
Maybe take it apart and see if something looks wrong.
All of my Glocks feel the same with regard to the mag release. I edc a g26 and it's stock except for the sights. [emoji106]
If the button is too hard to push then something is askew.
People play with these things because they're easy to work on. Sometimes that's a bad thing.
                              Good luck
