Can an EMP 4 slide and barrel be fitted to the EMP 3" frame? I've been searching without any luck. Not being able to take measurements from one is frustrating. I like the commander length 1911 with officer length receiver. I run mine with a magwell.

I had the same question being an EMP 3 in. owner.
My best guess was that the answer is no because the frame on the EMP 4 is longer. You can see it in the side by side photo in the link. The 'lug' area of the slide on the 4 inch likely won't mate to the frame properly. It may function mechanically, but could be a source to suck in dirt or grab on to cloth and probably just look broken.
However, similar to you never found anything conclusive and also similarly, too lazy to call SA as doing so would be dangerous to my wallet whether a slide swap is possible or not.Last edited by Fizz; 06-19-2018, 7:08 AM.Comment

Springfield will not sell you a slide by itself. However they might complete a new build on your 3 inch frame, bu this route is too expensive compared to buying a emp 4 at the off roster premium priceComment

I like Springfield products but hate the company and their policies.
My dream custom carry piece would be the steel .40 Cal 3" frame with the 4" slide and 9mm barrel bored to a .357 Sig. It would be a seriously pricey custom firearm but bad as hell. Heinie Straight 8 ledge night sights, Harrison custom controls and trigger, Smith & Alexander magwell with raasco grips and a fresh DLC finish to boot. One can only dream, lol."
