your help and advice please.

Im going out to buy some incarnation of the beretta 92FS tomorrow. Ive wanted one forever and said to heck with it, ill just go pick one up. Im looking at italian made 92FS's, M9's, standard 92FS's. Are there any real significant differences between any of these. Ive heard people comment on the fit, finish and feel of the italian mades ones -- are they that much better than the standard 92FS's? HELP.

The Italian ones are slightly better finished, but not something I'd pay a premium for. Truthfully some of the earlier USA made ones were about as good as the Italian ones. Don't know about recently as I haven't really been checking them out. The Italian Beretta might have some collector's value though. Personally, I think you should look at the slightly blemished ones that Turner's is selling right now for $429. The one I looked at in their store is in pretty damn good condition. I personally couldn't really tell where the blemish was. I think it's a steal at that price.

I myself like the nongloss finish of the M9 - always liked the 'parkerized' look.

If you get a Beretta, the later the gun is the likelihood the more product improvements are in it - slide retention, and (supposedly) slide strengthening & reinforcement to avoid cracking that earlier 92s running hot ammo had.

I've never been a big fan of Beretta HGs, had a 92G for a while but got rid of it, I guess just not my thing.
