    Dan Wesson Question? Please help!

I just acquired on a whim a Dan Wesson stainless 357 w/2.5" barrel and round butt grip. I was able to haggle the price much lower than anticipated ($600), so I felt obligated to purchase, especially since it looked a lot like a S&W model 66.

Does anyone know if this is a model 15 or ??? I've only talked with the dealer over the phone and have yet to DROS / see the revolver in person (DROS next week).

Anyways, whatever information you have is greatly appreciated as well as if I paid too much.

    Thanks CalGuns!

Model 715 since yours is stainless (714 was fixed sight). Model 15 is blued. The gunshop I worked at in the late 70's/early 80's was one of the highest volume Dan Wesson dealers in the country. Very accurate revolvers due to the barrel being supported at both ends, and if you get another barrel, shroud and the barrel tool to remove barrel nut (along with the feeler gauge) you can change the revolver's configuration. There were a number of different grips available too. Shrouds were available in Standard, Vented, or Vent Heavy configuration. CZ USA sells barrels/shrouds and the barrel wrench. You can often find grips and other parts on Ebay or Gunbroker.com There is a serial # registry that may help you determine your production date: http://www.danwessonforum.com/wp-con...ialNumbers.pdf

Yeah, those snubby grips are getting hard to find as well.
