Loves Lost and Lessons Learned...

Sitting here doing may taxes has made me all emotional ( a real man can admit the pain)...and brought on a little bit of self pity...it made me think of love lost...

On about five years ago my wife (new wife then) brought to my attention that we needed a new washer dryer. Being that she was a new wife then I wanted her to have something to make her proud... and as the checkbook was a bit light for that I turned to a place that in retrospect I never should have turned...but young love is often foolish....

I walked into a shop in Riverside where I lived at the time with:
Para P16.40 serial number 143X (second production run) 3 16 rd mags and 2 18 rd incl. extensions. Well shot but well loved with an extended beavertail and a beautiful set of cocobolo grips..

S&W 940 3" tube..in original box w/all paperwork and less than 10 clips through it..

Glock 19..First generation with 200 rounds through it 5 15 rd non drop free mags...extended slide release, 3.5# disconnector...stainless recoil spring guide rod.

Zastava P99 with 3 15rd mags. The hi-line model with the walnut grips. Supposedly designed to eat a steady diet of subgun ball without a hiccup...never found any IMI black tip but it loved Hirtenberg +P+ 115 grain jsp....Yugo marked before the whole badness happened over there

Yugo M57 (TT33) in 9mm....this one is really no big deal...but it adds to the sting a little..

I walked out of the gun shop with $1200 in my pocket and a smile on my face...

Man I sure was dumb back then...I'm just glad I left the 4" blued Python in the truck..I just couldn't part with it...

Anyone else feeling melancholy and have stories of love lost??

You're a real man to part with your guns to provide for your wife.....my hat's off to you sir.

But my wife (whenever I do get married) better shoot me with my guns before I'd give them up for a washer/dryer.....:P

Let's see - a 6" blued Colt Diamondback in 22 lr and an 8" Colt Python 38 Sp Target model. Maybe I shouldn't feel too bad - I got almost $350.00 total for both of them. COP - adios for $75.00. It's been a while.

Its best that the Mrs. no know what's in the gun safe or every time there's a financial "crisis" she'll be put'n on the pressure to sell a few guns to solve it.

Huh. I think I gotcha all beat, at least so far.

This time last year I sold a never fired Belgian made hand engraved Grade IV BAR II in 300 win mag, a Beowulf upper, a pair of like-numbered and complete Superior Arms lowers, a NIB Ruger Model 96 and an Automag IV in .45 Win Mag and an assortment of random .22's to help get the new wife's bills caught up.

The divorce was final this last monday.

Edit: But I got to keep the washer and dryer I had bought her before we got married!

Still works fine...I know it's sacrilege to say so but we get a good deal more use out of them than the guns...

But still those are some of the ones that got away....

And the safe is still pretty full...

Haha, I just had to make a similar decision. New gun.....or washer dryer thats energy efficient. Getting older is a strange strange transition.
