A while back I purchased a Polymer 80 PF940, and ufortunately at the time, I was unaware of all the hoops that I would have to jump through to build this pistol.

    1. Single shot only
    2. Magazine capacity of 0
    3. OAL of 10 inches

It’s crazy! Regardless, I’ve had this piece of plastic just lying around and I haven’t been sure what to do with it, I know that I definitely didn’t want to make it bolt action -_- so I got to thinking. What if, and this idea could be an absolute waste, but what if I take a G17 mag, remove the spring and insert a block inside to keep the follower at the top of the magazine. Then, with the magazine in the frame, drill a hole through it where the magazine release would be, and build some sort of mag lock. This means that I could assemble the rest of the gun in its regular manner, aside from the ridiculous barrel, and essentially turn it into a single shot only pistol.

Has a capacity of 0 + slide locks back after every round fired = single shot pistol?

Once again, this is just some last ditch effort to get SOME use out of this thing. I’ve done no milling on it as of yet so it is literally just a piece of plastic... Any feedback would be great!
It would be a single-shot pistol.

But, it wont' be a CA legal single-shot pistol.

In order to be CA legal it needs to be a bolt-action single-shot pistol or a break-top single-shot pistol.

A "semi-auto" single-shot pistol would be an illegal unsafe handgun.

just remember to engrave all info and vol-reg before 7/1/18 to avoid needing to get a DOJ issued serial.

Possibly very dumb question, but I'll ask anyway.... if you mounted a slide-cocking handle (like guys with open guns do to cock the gun with an optic mounted) ... whould't that sort of be bolt action? I mean really the entire slide is the "bolt". And if that wasn't good enough, if you mounted something like a non-moving barrel shroud around the slide with a cut out for your "bolt handle", then the slide would basically be a real moving bolt inside of the shroud?

NOTE: I have no interest in doing something so ridiculous, but just wondering.

Remember to dial 1 before 911.

Forget about stopping power. If you can't hit it, you can't stop it.

no, that would be a semi-auto with a large bolt attached to the slide. you need something to keep the slide from moving while firing so that it won't auto eject.

Read the law, stop this nonsense of single shot, 10" oal, etc..
