A buddy put together this build as a big middle finger to the ATF and NFA. He named it "NFA Nutkicker" due to some parts that waffle between legal and restricted.
Located in AZ. Not safe for CA use. May cause birth defects.

I'll get video in a few days. We zeroed and tuned it yesterday. It works great but I am still not a fan of 300bo even suppressed because it is not what I would consider hearing safe. Maybe for hunting out of a bolt gun but too loud for an AR but that's my opinion.

?? Even with subsonic ammo? There are dozens, if not hundreds, of yootoobs showing it to be just about the quietest centerfire you can get.

What does that have to do with being hearing safe? Just because it is the quietest does not mean it is safe. Someone paying $500-1000 plus a $200 stamp or paid to review is not going to readily admit they are not all they are praised to be. It is a very quiet cartridge in the right platform. That does not mean it is hearing safe. I see guys like MAC say 130db is hearing safe. That is just absurd. Like I said, 300bo in a properly suppressed bolt gun will be very quiet and probably hearing safe but I doubt there is any semi auto that will be below 120db at the ear and that is pushing it.

Yes, it's louder at the ejection port, but when MAC first got his sound meter, he set it up wrong and put it on the ejection port side for his test. I thought I saw one where BLK was still pretty quiet on the meter.

I'll found out for myself when my Octane gets out of jail. My ears are pretty messed up. I'll know in a hurry how close to "safe" it is. My points of reference are MP5-SD, thumbs up, MAC-10 .45 ACP with Sionics, thumbs down.

i was wrong. mac follows the 140db osha limit which is even worse. impulse is nice when it is singular. semi auto is not singular. shooting in general is not singular and just like repetitive stress injuries where lifting 5 lbs 10000 times a day can be more damaging than lifting 200 lbs once accumulative affect comes into play. your ears will tell you instantly if it is too loud. the problem is that the su sequent shots seem quieter due to the human body adjusting but the volume does not lower (not taking into account frp) so what seems to be quieter is the sound that is actualy doing the same damage.

since i am left handed i get a good blast into my right ear. most guys i know that shoot supressed subsonics still use a plug in the right ear on rifles. on pistols it is a matter of how well the gun cycles. i only shoot my 226 suppressed since it is the standard for all suppressor manufacturers. .22lr pistols are not an issue either.

i wont shoot unprotected unless it is under 122db. i dont have a meter but my 165gr 9mm out of almost any can has zero issue. 147 is ok depending on manufacturer. some are faster than others. .22lr gemtech is even quieter. im guessing 115db out pistol and probably sub 110 out of a bolt rifle.

I would love to borrow a meter to see how loud my 10.5" barreled AR is with the can on it. It's chambered in 5.56 and using standard military spec ammo, it seems to be about as loud as a .22LR out of a 10-22. Certainly too loud for an extended range session, but I think it would be fine for an occasional shot while hunting.
