    CZ Front Sight Removal

Hey there. I am trying to remove the front sight on my CZ. I punched out the roll pin, but I can't tap out the front sight as easily as I have other CZs. It's tritium so I don't want to try tapping it too hard lest I shatter the little vial.

Is there some other trick I can use to remove it? It's a TruGlo TFX sight, so it's a FO/Tritium combo sight.

I used a sight pusher to replace the OEM sights on my 75B SP-01 and 97B.

tyles you may need to get some high grit sand paper and see where the post is making contacT with the slide. lightly sand down the contact surfaces until it slides into place with light tapping. then make sure to drill your hole for the roll pin from left to right from the perspective of looking down the sights. that way the cock wise rotation of the drill bit will push the post against the slot of the frame and it will stay in the farthest back position.

I would think you would have to pound it out and not tap it out.

I was wondering the same as osis32. Rear sight...sure with a sight pusher, but how do you use it for the front sight?

This is trying to get it out of the slot. Would I still be using sandpaper for that?

How much abuse can a tritium take before it cracks? Will there be any sign other than the sight not glowing that I've irradiated myself?

I use nylon sight puncher and hammer to hit it hard, it works on my SP01, P01 and CZ TS.

The face of the CZ factory front night sight is at an angle. I suggest placing the nylon tipped punch on the base of the front sight, below the tritium. If this will not work you can always use a brass punch to tap it out.

Edit: It has been made clear that OP's sight is not a CZ factory sight, my bad.

You spray it with some WD40 first?

oh I miss it I thought you were putting in a tritium sight. a rubber tipped hammer or nylon punch. you're gonna have to be gentle but firm.

I've been whacking it with a nylon punch and rubber hammer and it's not budging. I triple checked that the roll pin is out and it is. And I am not sure WD40 is safe for my gun's finish.

If you're whacking it, that's strange it's not budging. So it current had aftermarket TruGlo sights, i wonder if the person who installed it used loctite even though there wasn't a need to since it's held by a roll pin.

The roll pin holds the front sight to the barrel bushing. If the roll pin is out, give a little spray of wd40 or lube on the front sight from the front and back. Check the Allen screw on top and confirm it is loose or removed. Tap the sight from rear to front with a nylon hammer or metal hammer to nylon punch. Removal should take light taps only. If it is stuck firm- remove the barrel and tap lightly on the barrel bushing once or twice front to back- no lateral pressure on the bushing.
