    As a Leftist...

    Shooter.
I'm debating on selling one of my nice semi-auto 9's (I have two other 9mm's which I love) to a friend and looking for a 1911 in .45 ACP that's around $1300.

A $2k 1911 is way over my budget. Beside, I doubt I would really appreciate all the extra work since it won't make me shoot any better then say a $600 1911.

I have a really nice SA Range Officer in 9mm (one of my keepers) so I would like something that offers a great value for a modest price.

Not trying to start a brand war on 1911's. So, as a fair, left handed shooter, who would like a stay within budget ($1500 absolute max) which 1911's would you prefer that you personally own or have used?

I'm not brand loyal or party loyal.

Ive shot a Rock Island quite a bit and never had any problems. Springfield Loaded model is a good option too. If you want something nicer, You could probably get a used Springfield TRP within your budget. Im a lefty and enjoy 1911s quite a bit.

The citadel is nice too it's also made by RI , Springfield is nice too but don't have much trust in them from there stunt last year I'm sure you can find a used kimber in that price great to shoot but I've had reliability issues with mine if it gets dirty

I'm semi ambidextrous. I write and do a lot of things left handed. I carry on my right side and generally shoot better right handed. But I do shoot with both quite a bit.
The only 1911s I have are a Rock Island Commander and a Ruger SR1911 aluminum commander. The Ruger is super easy to shoot lefty, probably because it has the thin grips. If I was to carry it lefty, I'd put and ambi safety on it, but aside from that I don't have any problem using it lefty.
          The Ruger was ~800

Look for a used Dan Wesson or Les Baer.

If you could find a Las Beer in that price range snag it.

I'd say a Springfield Trophy Match if you can find one (not sure if they still make them).

Or a TRP ($1350 for the CA compliant version).

If you were $2800 richer than $1300, and not in CA... and are a lefty
