    Bullet Performance

I have seen several threads lately regarding the bullets performance questions. To be accurate, they have to be shot through several different mediums. However, I didn't have time to prepare for the extensive tests. So, I shot several name brands in a water tank and recovered the bullets.

Since they are shot under the same condition, it may be a reference to their performance to a degree. I hope this can be of some help to whoever seeking the information.

From the top row left > right:

    1. Starfire 9mm, 2. Fed 45 HST, 3. Win 45 SXT +P, 4. Rem 45 Golden Saber

    Bottom row left > right

    5. Speer 45 Gold dot, 6. Mag Tech 45, 7. Fed 45 Tactical JHP, 8. Fed 45 Hydra Shock

    9. The fragmented bullet is Corbon 45 200 gr +P

Obviously, the bullet retains the weight and no core separation and biggest expension will do the job. However, it is all subjective depends on where it hit. The location is paramount for the bullets to be effective.

Now, only if they'd perform the same way in the human body?

Great info! It looks like you might, I say might, have an early unlock problem.

Speer Gold Dot is bonded bullet and there is no core separation. Most the others retained the core well, but there is a possibility that core may separate as long as it is not bonded. I have seen enough premier bullets have jacket/core separation in real life shooting incidents.

I also have seen the hollow point bullets go through a heavy clothing which plugged up the cavity and it became just like a FMJ bullet and go through the body without expending. You may want to think about it.
