Slight rust damage on 1911 because of leak

So my "show" 1911 got some light rust damage. Or at least that is what I think it is. Roof leaked a little bit right onto the case. Anyway, I was hoping someone can tell me a good way to remove the rust. I have tried various oils and 000 steel wool, and while that removed a good chunk of it, some minor amounts remain. I have access to an ultrasonic cleaner as well, so if there is some cleaner I can buy for that to remove rust, that is an option as well.

I would rub some more until you feel the finish is being marred. It doesn't look bad in the photos.

Is this just on the slide serrations? If you can lay the slide on it's side in a very shallow broth of white vinegar and water (50% mix), for no more than 15 mins, it may remove the rust.

I don't know how the finish on your gun's slide will react to this solution, so you could test it on the inside of the slide between the muzzle and the locking lug area with a small cotton patch soaked in same.

Whatever might take the rust away, you will need to keep the slide exterior oiled. All bluing or Parkerizing needs to kept oiled.

Water from a roof leak? Why isn't your gear stashed in a locked container?

Rattle can clear coat and preserve it.

Is that the factory finish or was it Cerakoted?

                      That 1911 needs an umbrella.
                      Flitz it. Gone in seconds.

I forget what it was exactly called, but it is a TRP full rail and the change from black to whatever finish it is now was done by SACS. I want to say it is an Armory Kote? Might be the bead blast and polish to ss.

SACS would probably bead blast it for $100.

Flitz on a q-tip works great for getting into those slide serrations.
