    SA 1911 Dove Tail Question

I've always wanted to upgrade my sights from day one on my SA Loaded but have read that my front sights are staked in so I didn't bother looking.

To my surprise upon inspection, the inside of the frame looks smooth. Based on the picture below, can you confirm that my version only has an allen crew to lock the sight in and I can simply push the sights off the slide?

As for the rear, is there a spring underneath the sight?

Lastly, what are my options for my 1911?

    Thank you in advance.

That's a roll pin. Use a small roll pin punch and remove the pin. Than you can tap out the front sight or use a sight pusher.

Oh and take measurements of the sight and sight depth, bottom because some sights are not true cut novak. Have seen some come out of SA that are undersized.

Thanks Shafferds. Small punch I have is 1/16. Do I need an even smaller one?

Also, where do I start to shop for sights for my 1911? Search Novak style sights?

        Will this one fit? https://shop.opticsplanet.com/trijic...SABEgKQQvD_BwE

I responded on the other site (1911) you posted this on...those evil gun sites. It is a role pin...Mine did not have the pin...got a pusher and did it myself.
Wilson Protector .45, Springer 9mm Loaded, Franchi Instinct SL .12ga. and some other cool stuff for the kiddos...

Brownells sells a small roll pin punch I believe it is 1/16. Dawson precision makes good sights. Lots to pick and choose from.

1/16 punch and it comes out super easy. I did it myself. It was not an issue at all.

Here is the sight I installed myself:
Dawson Springfield 1911 Fiber Optic Front Sights .180x.100 partridge serrated 020-023-00, $39
