So i've put maybe 500 more rounds through my springfield xd 40. I have to say with the videos and the great advice given here that my accuracy is def better. Hitting more and more targets. Also great help from some of those over at oak tree shooting range. Really help out a rookie. Now that my wife is interested, looking for a 9mm to start her off and we can take some classes together

Congrats! WHy not get her the 9mm version of the gun you already have, then at least the controls and stuff are all the same.

How about you sell your XD 40 and you both get 9mm. Then you have magazine and ammo consolidation.

Or you can buy a 9mm conversion barrel and magazine for your XD to see if she likes it.

Get her a Glock 19.

Once you get to a shooting range on a regular basis, make it a point to shoot the same drill at least once each time. It's hard to judge improvement without a consistent yardstick. Polymer small frame guns like the xd are great to introduce your lady to shooting. Heavy guns recoil less, but imo it's much harder to hold a heavy gun at arms length for new female shooters.

get her a glock 19 yes...I say that because i just started shooting pistols and love my g19.

Aiming is lining up the sights on the target...

Shooting the gun so it doesn't move off your point of aim is typically the part that needs improving!
