Its designed as a duty gun, shorter barrel for quicker draw times from a duty belt holster, full size grip for max capacity.
It was never supposed to be a ccw gun."I saved your life, AND brought you pizza" -- MeComment

they are boring. they are blocky, grip angel sucks, finger grooves don't fit most, but you can do a lot of work to them. Milling the slide, grip stippling etc. and they can be fun to shoot.
Disclaimer: I am not a glock fanboy at all. I am a SIG guy:
now for the G19x, I am loving my G19x it does feel great in the hands and feel great shooting too and the color is cool. different cool. i am starting to be a fanboy to the 19x. But it appears that a lot of fanboys are so upset that they did not get a G19L and they are hating the 19x because of it. again this was for military use and not meant to be concealed carry. in that case, buy a G17 and cut down the grip and you will have your 19L. Just saying!!!Formally known as el Chingon...Comment

It was designed within the parameters of the military contract it seeked to fulfill.Comment

I do have to say that the G19X has caused more butt hurt then any gun that has hit the market in 50 years.
So what if it’s not the gun you wanted, just don’t buy one.
And yes, it did loose to the Sig, but only because it was priced 34% more them Sig. The military went with the lower bid and it has come back to bite them on the butt. Look up the trouble the Army is having with the new Sigs.
I was going to get a Gen 5 Mod 19 but didn’t care for the cutout at the front bottom of the mag well.
A friend of mine picked up a 19X and I got to play with it. The gun felt great in my hand, and I wanted one.
I stopped by the local Pawn & Gun shop to see about getting one and had my name put on a list.
A week later my friend at the shop called me and said they had just bought a 19x and some other guns from a customer. The 19x was like brand new, and if I wanted it he would hold it for me. The shop had to hold the gun for 30 days before they could sell it but it’s mine now. I got it for $551 out the door.
I really like this gun. It fits the hand and shoots great. My son has fallen in love with it and shoots it better then his Gen4 17.
I don’t plan to carry it, got it more as a range toy.
The shorter slide on a full size frame is nothing new. Here’s my 19X next to my FNS9.
Do not relish to feel what the men that used these weapons felt when they saw the elephant. For the elephant has tusk and to see him is to have his tusk dig deep into your soul. You will always have a part of you that will be cold and empty.

If you have to buy a Gen 5 Glock, say for your Glock collection, the 19X is the way to go.
The G19X has the FIRST factory non-black slide. I don't know what Glock did to it, but it's grippier than the Gen 5 black finish - which is kinda slippery.
The G19X doesn't have that stupid front cut-out. In the Gen 5 G19, the front cut out is a torture device. In all other Gen 5 frames (excepting the 19X) the cut out can counter any advantage of the oversized mag well.
The G19X has good balance in your hand.
Overall, I've found, as have others I've talked to, that the 19X trigger is not a mushy as the other Gen 5's I've shot. YMMV. (I do shoot my Gen 4 better).
Again, if you absolutely HAVE to buy a Gen 5 Glock, which I am not personally advocating, then the best choice, IMO is the 19X for the foregoing reasons. However, the best description I've heard of the Gen 5 Glocks is: "Here's a gun that nobody needs."Comment
