Buying Springfield Armory XD because they severed Dick's!

With all the b.s. anti-gun companies getting involved in politics, I feel relieved when companies stick it to them. So because Springfield Armory cut Dicks off, pun intended, I'm buying a Springfield XD just because of it. Anyone else doing the same?

Springfield Armory, created by George Washington in 1777, announced it was severing all ties with Dick's Sporting Goods over its gun control stance.

Edit to add: With that said, I like my XD pistols for what they are. Enjoy it...

Good on Springfield but where’s the source? If true, unfortunately for them the most devout 2A-types are the most unforgiving bunch. Although Springfield’s IL debacle still leaves a bad taste in my mouth, there’s those here and elsewhere with such unwavering postitions that them writing a $10M check to NRA wouldn’t be so much as a bandaid. Sometimes picking our battles and a “sorry” is acceptable when we’re already so outnumbered. You all be the judge.

The Springfield debacle was unfortunate. I don't believe that they did so on purpose. They have history of supporting the shooting sports and the 2nd Amendment. IMHO, I think it was blown way out of proportion.

I am glad to see what they've done to Dicks. Hope Dicks dies. Hope Dicks hurts the entire time Dicks is dying.

I never stopped supporting Springfield. My first pistol was a 1911 Loaded. I have 2 other XD's and will buy 1 maybe 2 more. If the XD-s or XD-s Mod 2.0 were on the roster, they would be on the "buy" list too. (Yes, I know of PPT. Just hate the exorbitant price of entry).

Dick's stock was floating between high 40s to about 60 per share until about 18 months ago. Last time I checked they were low, low 30s.

from an email from SA yesterday:

edit: yeah uh... I tried to paste a screenshot from my phone, so excuse the tiny pic. Here's what the txt says for those who can't read the ant sized picture

GENESEO, IL, (05/03/18) – Springfield Armory is severing ties with Dick’s Sporting Goods and its subsidiary, Field & Stream, in response to their hiring a group for anti-Second Amendment lobbying.

This latest action follows Dick’s Sporting Goods’ decision to remove and destroy all modern sporting rifles (MSR) from their inventory. In addition, they have denied Second Amendment rights to Americans under the age of 21. We at Springfield Armory believe that all law abiding American citizens of adult age are guaranteed this sacred right under our Constitution.

It is clear where Dick’s Sporting Goods and its subsidiary, Field & Stream, stand on the Second Amendment, and we want to be clear about our message in response. Their position runs counter to what we stand for as a company. At Springfield Armory, we believe in the right and principles fought for and secured by American patriots and our founding forefathers, without question. We will not accept Dick’s Sporting Goods’ continued attempts to deny Second Amendment freedoms to our fellow Americans.

So some of you are still pissed about the Illinois FFL deal, but there seems to be no such continued backlash for the S&W and Ruger debacle over the AW ban (in fact the lined article even mentions it).

I say, good for SA. They are doing the right thing.

I picked up my SA 1911 mil spec from Turner's a week ago. The hammer will not stay back, the sear slips. You can push the hammer forward from the cocked position. It's a single shot 1911 as you must cock for every round fired. Otherwise, it's a fine gun.

Yes, Springfield was nice about it and it's back to them for hopefully a custom shop buff and fluff.

Colt, Ruger, and S&W has changed their leadership since then.
^The people in charge that made the decisions supporting gun control during the 1980s-1990s are no longer employed by those companies and the people that took over did their part to correct their course.

Springfield Armory is on the long road to regain trust, what they just did with Dick's being one step in correcting their course.
