My question was directed to using Federal Brass with TK Custom moonclips

I have a lot of Federal *FC* cases that I load for my M&P9 and SIG 320. I've been saving WIN cases on the recommendation of some local ICORE shooters...I had previously been giving it away. This of course assuming I don't jump in the deep end and have a 929 rechambered to .356 TSW

      1. Federal
      2. CCI
      3. Winchester
      4. Remington

I'd always heard that CCI SPP were hard to set off, but they continued to ignite after the Winchester and Remington had started failing
Share any info on Loads or primer seating? Single stage or progressive? Because that is really contrary to everything I know and have experienced. No one, least of all anyone shooting competition, has had anything good to tell me about CCI small pistol primers.

          I think hes being sarcastic?

The 356 TSW is deader than disco. Its super obscure. Power factor and rules in USPSA have changed of the last 3 odd decades, but at the time it was available it was excluded from major power factor for standard/production class and that pretty much killed it.

            Try this:

It will shoot at a power factor of about 130 to 135, depending on the gun.

Federal primers have always been notorious for being easy to ignite in that the ATF used them when testing a gun and trying to get it to double so they could prosecute someone for having a machine gun.

Well, unless you will not shoot that stage a lot of USPSA matches include classifiers.

I also do not understand the mentality of "competing for fun". Seems like a built in excuse for not doing well. People that do compete, do have fun.

I would seriously look into Mojo Custom Gun. They do work that is just as good as Alan, have a shorter turn around, and cost less. He did my 929 and it is f-in amazing. The trigger is great, I love the set screw on the strain screw, he re-crowned the barrel, and the polishing and opening up of the cylinder makes it swallow up the moomclips..

The turn around was 3 weeks.

I use Federal brass in my TK moonclips I own around 40 or so. Make sure you get a lot, it they get bent they become useless.

If you want change you have to put in your 2 cents, you can't just sit on the sidelines and whine.

Me too...that is why I tested it after I heard it

I tried to standardize as much as possible, with the exception that I just grabbed 100 of each brand of SPP off the shelf, to reduce variables

                    1. WW once fired .38 Spl cases...original 148gr HBWC Super Match from my PPC days
                    2. Uniformed and cleaned primer pockets
                    3. Primed on a Co-Ax Bench Priming Tool

Loaded 6 in a cylinder and fired them.
                    Repeated with other primers.
Loosened strain screw half a turn
Repeated process until half the cartridges in a cylinder wouldn't ignite

That is awesome. I will see if LAX or any of my local gunstores have that in stock. That sounds like a solid choice. Thank you for introducing that to me

I have some time to do research because of the 1-in-30 law. I will certainly give Mojo Custom a real consideration. That turn around time sounds perfect to me.

Thank you for letting me know about your experience with TK and federal brass. I will be sure to stock up on it

I am not there in my life just yet. I am a NEW father. I am a father-first and and everything else next. I look forward to the day when I can spend full days at matches with my son, but given the option I would rather spend my weekends with my child. I won't assume anything about you, but if you don't understand it, then it seems like a you problem

Just curious, and I'm not trying to hassle you. I'm a father to be next month so I do understand the shift in priorities. That said, are you planning to compete? Matches take as long as they take. You can't shoot and leave, leaving the rest of your squad to clean up. So I'm not sure I understand your comment.

You'll understand when the time comes, when you can maybe go out once a quarter with your buddies. I took a year off of competing. I am slowly getting back to it and will maybe work out going once a month or once every two months. WHEN I do go, I spend the whole day with my squad. Local matches at say Deadwood Boys is adequate for me. Don't think that precludes me from wanting or owning a raced out gun or competing once in a while.
