    Question on Sig P229

I checked the roster and looks like there are two 9mm versions available: P229 (Black) 229R-9-BSS-CA and P229R Enhanced Elite (Black) 229R-9-ESE-CA. Could someone please educate me on the difference between the two? From what I could find the Enhanced Elite has a beavertail, one piece grip, and night sights.

    Thank you.

    What he said ^

Front cocking serrations on the slide are the main difference and I guess the E2 grips ( I thought they all came with E2 grips at this point.) I've seen them with and without beavertail, but from the factory as boo2112 stated they are beavertail.

Like others have said, the 3 differences are the front serrations on the slide, the beavertail, and the SRT kit (reduces reset distance considerably). SIGLITE tritium night sights and the E2 reduced-reach grip are standard on both models, and here in CA they will both come with the LCI and magazine safety.

FYI, SRT kit is ~$50 and is a pretty easy install, so it really comes down to whether the beavertail is worth +$40 MSRP. My 2 cents: the standard truncated tail and the high bore axis already make hammer bite a non-issue, so the beavertail is totally aesthetic. If you're concealing, probably better without, but otherwise it is completely your call.

As always, if you can get them both in your hands on the same day, pick the one that feels better. Definitely feel for the reset difference with the SRT kit installed, I think it makes follow-up shots MUCH more pleasant.

The beavertail is less than ideal for ccw.
