    SI GUM Mount

I vaguely want to put a red dot on my stock third gen G26--don't really want to have custom work done to it. I saw this solution that looks pretty cool: https://www.strikeindustries.com/sho...ics-mount.html

Haven't found a thread on it--what are the pros and cons of this? Any reasons why it's not more popular?

    dovetail mounts have been around.

the only reason i believe it isn't more popular is that it requires the removal of your rear iron sights.

if your optic goes down, will you have a spare optic to mount right away?

plus, i am also wondering what would be the durability of the small dovetail to handle the recoil and extra weight.

I'm in San Francisco so I can't ccw anyway until Trump appoints a few more scotus justices, God willing. The glock is primarily for range fun and SHTF. In a shtf scenario, I'd have a backup pistol on the tiny chance the optic goes out. Sounds good, anybody else have experience with this?

Have you searched youtube...google...other gun forums...magazine or blogger write-ups or articles ??

Personally...I would save up for aftermarket slide like Spinta and have it cut for it.
This way...if you don't like it, you can sell the slide and optic as a unit.
And you didn't have to remove and re-install the rear sight from the factory slide.

Hmm, the Ducek Defense RBU solution is interesting.

I have a venom by vortex mounted on my g19 by way of a adapter by j t defense. It mounts by 2 screws into a plate in rear sight dovetail and a third screw into a boss on the rear end plate. Doesn't leave any where for a rear iron sight, and red dot does sit about 3/16 of an inch higher than a dedicated slide cut, but does give an opportunity to decide if red dots are for me or not.
