Did you replace with a factory OEM P228 recoil spring? For the new OEM mags, load them to the max and leave them loaded for a few weeks- that might help.

Worst case send back to Sig for warranty.

I have Sigs from the early 90’s with thousands of rounds through them with no spring changes and no issues to date. This is a big sample size across all my P220, P226, 229, 228 variants - never a hitch from the box to date

Does it happen with all types of factory ammo? What modifications have been done to this pistol and how many rounds fired through it?

Is it jamming at the range, or is this hand cycling of the weapon?

How frequent is the jam? Is it with all kinds of ammo?

I’d make sure the gun is well lubed and the slide feels smooth when hand cycling. Then start with just one round in a mag, slide locked back, insert mag, drop slide. Does it feed? Fire the one round. Does it eject?

Then do the same thing but with two rounds in the mag. If that works, then three, then four, and so on.

By the looks of your pic, the top round is going in straight and the bottom round is jammed up against it. Any chance the feed lips on the mag are too wide or the mags are for the wrong caliber?

Does it happen with steel cased and aluminum cased ammo more often?

Is the round that’s stuck in the chamber fired (empty case) with the live round behind it?

                          Are both rounds live?

If it's not the ammo, mags, recoil spring are new then...
Round could be sticking in the chamber because it's too tight or has a high spot in there. (had a Kimber that did this)
                            Extractor has been looked at?
Ejector should be kicking empties out and isn't, so it may be short or out of speck.

I’ve been running mostly factory brass through it with the occasional mag of alum or steel.

sounds like you bought a lemon? the previous owner had to have known it was malfunctioning if it does this with factory ammo, that explains no wear on the frame, the previous owner probably had the same problems.

back before Y2K I bought a new Bushmaster XM15 AR clone and it was a "lemon" I dont know why they let it leave the factory? it couldnt even fire two rds without jamming (poor quality control)
