    Kimber Eclipse 10mm (40 Conversion)

I have a Kimber Eclipse II in 10mm that I'd probably shoot and enjoy more if I didn't have to chase down empty brass for reloading - showing up with 200 rounds and leaving with 198 empties drives me a bit up the wall. Every once in a while I put a few magazines of 40 S&W through it, works fine. But I'd prefer an actual 40 S&W barrel.

I've done some checking on line and the Kimber takes a "Nowlin" cut ramped barrel, correct? I see barrels offered alone, others with a link and barrel bushing. I have plenty of links in different heights, but is there a reason to buy or not buy the barrel bushing? If the new barrel can be fitted to the current bushing isn't that best?

Any suggestions on which brand to get and tips for installing? I know my limitations, building a 1911, tuning Smiths and older Colts, doing the same on BHP is no problem for me. I tend to stay away from power tools ....

Getting a barrel with a link doesn’t make sense as you have no idea what link will be needed until measurements are made and then some math.

IMHO opinion having a barrel, it’s own bushing and having it properly fitted to the gun makes the most sense. Than you’d have a nice shooting 40 you can easily switch over to a 10mm bad back.

Thanks. If I get the barrel, bushing and link package the bushing (I'd expect) will be fitted to the barrel, but not the slide - correct? I think getting the barrel, an oversized bushing and fitting a link would be the way to go. My goal is a proper functioning plinker, for the few $$$ more to get best accuracy seems a good investment.

It will still require a little fitting but you can do it all with a file provided you measure the slide properly
