    Do All Glocks Do This?

Smacking in a full mag releases the slide and chambers a round. Is that just a Glock feature I'd never heard of? This is my first one (G19) and I bought it used with no paperwork.

Also, is it common to have feeding problems with hollow points? The spendy HD rounds I was trying out had 2 FTFs out of the 20 I brought. The cheapo Blazer Brass round nose showed no problems over 100 rounds. Is there something I can do to make my good ammo work, or should I just look to trade/sell it off? I'd rather keep it and make the gun take it, you know?

Wifes P89 did that when she first bought it with less than 100 rounds down the pipe. Then it dwindled down to just one magazine routinely doing it.

Bought a factory fresh mag, good as new.

As far as getting FTF's on hp's..... since you bought it used, I'd take a gander at the recoil spring. Probably needs to be replaced, and it's cheap insurance. And it's *possible* that your glock + that brand of ammo = no bueno.

      My Glock 19 eats everything.

Try an aftermarket barrel by Storm Lake.

I have the same FTF problem on my new G34 with ~500 rdtt. Thought I was over it, but it jammed a couple of times in my 1st USPSA match a couple of weeks ago...

Still on my first case of Blazer Aluminum... is this a common issue or not ?

not common! I have 15k+ through my glock 23 and 10k+ in my g22 and the only jams I ever had was a bad mag in my 23. Change your recoil spring ($5) and get a new mag that should fix it!

Both mags were releasing the slide - I kinda like that "feature." Is there any problem with it?

As for the jamming, I guess I'll look for a spring before replacing the barrel. I suppose I wouldn't mind a new barrel, but they're at least 10x the cost of a spring. Thanks.

My slide does not release by itself.

As far as feeding problems with hollow points. I have never shot anything through my Glock that wasn't a hollow point and I have never had any feeding issues.

                  It's supposed to do that

According to Glock, its supposed to release the slide and chamber a round. My brand new G19 did this on its first mag change.

When you say, "Change the recoil spring", you mean to a Lighter one, correct? Just making sure...

Edit: sorry, didn't mean to hijack the thread. You were answering the op.

My 17 also will release the slide when I slam in a fully loaded magazine. It only happens when I slam it in hard. Usually when shooting USPSA or IDPA it happens about 4 out of 5 times so I'm always prepared to release the slide stop lever, I just don't have to most times.

As far as the hollow points not feeding. If I was you, I would order all new springs for the gun which will cost you about $15. you can either buy factory springs or you can buy competition springs which will actually improve your trigger pull. Once you have your new springs, detail strip the whole gun, give it a thorough cleaning and replace all the springs. Keep the original springs in case you need them later. If you don't know how to detail strip the gun, just download the glock armorers manual.

What kind of hollow points are you using? I've never had any type of bullet that wouldn't feed in my 17.

I was firing Speer Gold Dot +p 124 gr. GDHP. I really wasn't anticipating any problems, so I only brought the two mags I had loaded. I'll save those until I'm able to switch out the springs and detail the gun.

                          Thanks again.

You might need to replace the slide lock? I rented a G21 and it kept doing that, but I could tell it was beat up. Probably 10k+ rounds easily.

Mine is not a 19 but I have a 26 and I didn't encountered any of this situation. Got probably 11K rounds on it. Hmmmm....wonder if it's your mag or recoil spring?
