HK45 vs HK45 Compact

Hello, I own a HK45 and its a great gun. A lil bit big but perfect in the hands.

I was curious, how does the compact model compare to the fullsize.

And most important, how's the grip circumference compared to the fullsize.
I love the fullsize because of the grip but the compact doesn't have the same style grip so I wonder if its actually bigger.
And last, can the compact use the same mags as fullsize.

Any info would be appreciated.

Had the USP 45C. That. thing is a brick. Its heavy, thick, and clunky. I did not like the feel of it. Felt a little top heavy. I have smaller hands, so I was not a fan of he grip or how my my fingers wrapped around it, but i did like the way the gun pointed. Suprisingly it shot very nice and the controls were very smooth and easy to access.

I think the OP is referring to the non-USC model 45's.

OP, I have an HK45 as well but always wondered about the HK45C too. I have heard it's pretty great but from what I understand, it's hard to find suitable lights that fit on the short rail.

Reason i ask is because i have the fullszie HK45 and was thinking of trading it for a HK45 compact.
Because i want to carry out while hunting. The fullsize is a big gun. Feels great in the hand though.
Im just wondering if the compact would feel easier to carry. Its not that much lighter.

I’d never trade my HK45 or sell it for that matter. I would definitely acquire a compact if so desired. Good luck with your choice

The full size HK45 mags will fit in the 45c and stick out of the well. The USP45c uses the same mags as the HK45c. I have large hands and the 45c suits me better than the full size. Both are good shooting pistols for me, but the 45c is easier for me to carry.

NOOOOOO.... Dont ever sell or trade an HK especially an off roster model.

Have you checked out the USP compact? I have an HK45 full size and love it, will never sell or trade it. I sold an LE trade in USP45 to buy the HK45. I regret it everyday, wish I had kept it and had both.

Now I have always wanted a USP45 compact. It looks very similar to the HK45 compact. If I were you I'd just get the USP45 compact in stainess and keep your HK45 full size.

Are you talking about the HK45 with the P30/VP9 style grip? If so, it is considerably different than the HK45C.

Like 9mm stated, the HK45C is essentially a P2000 in .45 ACP. The HK45 is essentially the next evolution of the HK lineup into the P30/VP9 category of frame styles.

HK frame style evolution goes MK23 to USP to P2000/HK45C to P30/VP9/HK45. I purposely excluded the more exotic frames because they don't fit the category.

I have both. The hk45 is more like a p30, and the 45c is more like a p2000. I prefer the 45c. Mines the 45c tactical. Wonderful handgun. The hk45ct is also the us military mk24 in case that means anything to you.

I agree completely---I made the choice of the 45C over the HK45 just because it's smaller and more compact---I do have large hands so this was not an issue---I still have my older HK USPf 45 as a range gun, the 45C would be a more compact "field gun", just easier to pack on my person...

As others have stated, the HK45 and HK45C are completely different handguns. The former is best described as a P30 chambered in .45 Auto and a tad larger (mainly longer), and the latter is best described as a P2000 chambered in .45 Auto and a tad larger. I have pair of each, and all four are German-made. For .45 Auto, I prefer the HK45. I prefer my P2000 V3s in 9mm or .357 Sig over the HK45C. If you prefer to shoot .45 Auto, and if you feel that the HK45 is too large, then you owe it to yourself to buy an HK45C. I had a USP45 Compact once, and the HK45C is much better.

One nice thing about the HK45 and HK45C are that the slim slide stop levers fit both.

Love the grip on the HK45 over the HK45c or P2000SK. Agree with lunde on his advice. I would never part with one of my HK45s.

The HK45c is great. I use Hogue grips on it.
