    Mag Pouch Question

My brother in law is taking me along to a frontsight 2 day defensive pistol class. One of things I need is a mag holster pouch (they suggest two). I've been meaning to get one for when I carry concealed anyway. I'm liking the Bladetech mag holsters. My question is do I get the double holster or two singles? I'm considering two singles because when I carry concealed I think I only want to carry one extra mag. It will be bulkier for the class but more convenient for EDC. Will I find two singles two bulky for the class?

Get the two singles - gives you many more options

Two singles are actually less bulky than one double.

I use the Blackhawk singles for uspsa. Not sure if they’d be good for cvs but they’d be good for the class.

          Singles give you better options.

I used one double plus a Maxpedition dump pouch on my belt for the following reasons:

1.) using the second mag holder can make it more difficult to reach and/or can bind
2.) the Maxpedition dump pouch can hold extra mags plus bulk rounds plus magazine loading device. Even with multi-pocketed tactical pants I found it simpler and had easier access to get into the wide mouthed pouch over the pockets.

I normally start with two full mags in the holder and two or three full mags in the pouch. Depleted mags go in a pocket and full mags are rotated up to the mag holder as necessary. Empty mags are reloaded continuously when you are in the #2 position on the line. If you are rotating 4 to 5 mags you should never be out

            Whatever you choose---have fun!

Two singles would be fine, and you'll shoot from concealed there so you can practice with one spare if you choose to.
