    NIB Springfield XD .40 Subcompact

I just bought a Springfield Subcompact XD 40. It's a bit late to ask this now, but what do you guys think of this gun?

I bought it because it felt better to me than a Glock 26/27. That being said, I've only shot a GLock 26/27 and have never shot a subcompact XD 40.

What can you guys tell me about the XD.

In short - you won't be sorry. It is excellent gun.

I love my XD9. I've got 700 rounds through it without any jams or weirdness at all. The same can't be said for my SA 1911. I want to get an XD of every flavor once the funds are there. I will easily lose my Beretta for another XD.

I was having the XD40 sub / G27 debate a couple weeks ago. My local shop had a G27 in stock and gave me an offer I couldn't refuse, but I could have easily gone the other way.

Either one is definitely a win. Those are the best two entries in the ultra compact class by a long shot, and after a lot of research I really couldn't find a clear winner.

You will love it. I love mine. I bought mine for the same reasons you stated after I compared the two side by side. the XD was the hands down winner. Great little gun to shoot and a comfortable little carry gun.

Both me and my good buddy were in the market for a sub-comp guns. I went with the G27 and he bought the XD40. Both are equally nice IMO, it all just comes down to what feels better.

I've got an XD-45 Tactical. Definitely my favorite gun, and I would bet my life on it. I'm sure the compacts are every bit as awesome as their bigger brother. You have chosen wisely.

Best gun hands down Love my XD-40 best of all worlds the trigger pull is better than a glock and it will out shoot most if not all equivalent glocks on the market also it is very easy for any one to be deadly accurate with it.

My shooting buddy bought an XD-40 and we have put that thing through the ringer, hes only had his less than a year and between the both of us we have put several thousand rounds through her but you couldn't tell. A friend of his bought a glock .40 compact so we were able to compare the two one day at the range, both guns delivered about the same accuracy wise (bench) and the XD-40 seemed to have a little more felt recoil. What makes these pistols different is ergonomics, the xd wins hands down and feels real good with one of those slip on/ wrap around hogue grips, disassembly of the xd was much easier also and i wasn't too hot for the glock trigger which could probably be fixed cheap. In my experience they are both plenty good for what they were intended for and it is only a matter of which feels best in you're hand that matters.

I thought that the felt recoil was supposed to be less than Glock 27 because of the double spring on the guide rod? If the felt recoil is more, I may have to get rid of it...(once I pick it up) and get a the XD-9 Subcompact.

I don't recall their being two springs, but the sub-compact may have two i don't know. I think the reason for the more felt recoil is the fact that bore sits higher on the XD than the glock, but i wouldn't worry, the difference was very little. But go ahead and buy the XD9 just to be on the safe side.

G27 has a double recoil spring. The XD would have slightly more muzzle rise to the higher bore line like eckerph said.

You can't go wrong with any XD. Glocks and XDs are virutally the same, it pretty much comes down to how it feels in your hand and product loyalty. My first handgun was a XD9 (service model) and after around 1000 rounds it has yet to fail. I'm looking into a sub compact model in 9mm and can't wait to find the right one. +1 for an excellent choice.

I've got an XD40 service, a XD9SC, and a Glock 36. Obtained in that order and the G36 was a bday present from my gf.
