    Glock Gen 3 Phasing out...

If this is a dupe please ignore but found this topic very disturbing...

Got word from a Glock rep today that production for the Gen 3 Glocks is being phased out. Glock will only be doing limited runs of the Gen 3 just to keep up with sales for states like California and others that will not allow sales of the Gen 4s and 5s. Also the Gen 3s that will be produced will...

Looks like we'll be fine here in CA.

Sounds like they are going to do what SIG has been doing...keeping certain models in production just for the CA market

For now. Until maintaining a production line on them is cost prohibitive. I hate this state...

Don't worry, they'll always keep it in production for CA residents.

Trust me, CA shooters will pay premium for products, partly out of necessity, partly because the average CA gun guy has more disposable income than the average free stater.

The California gun market is big enough for companies to cater to us. Our population is bigger and has more gun owners in Canada yet the majority of gun companies still sell to Canada.

If that were true why did some companies stop doing drop tests to keep handguns on the roster like colt?

Because Colt hates civilian sales. Colt has always been about their government contract. For too many years Colt has ignored civilian sales.

You picked about the worst example. The only company that hates its civilian customers more than Colt, is HK and they are legendary for not giving a flying you know what.

The Glock Rep at Shot Show a couple of years ago told me Glock does about 24% of their US business in California and they were committed to keeping the Gen 3 line available to Ca. While that was a few years back I doubt anything has changed in their business practices in this regard.

Colt was removed from the roster by the DOJ for manufacturing changes, not for not paying the annual renewal fee.

We would normally renew but CA is evaluating all our guns against the samples we sent in when we registered them. They may boot them all based on we went to CNC machining and any manufacturing change they can require a new submission. Of course now they require firing pin micro stamping so submitting new guns would be pointless.

How many signatures do we need to repeal the roster?

Many more than it took to get the measure to repeal the 2017 Gunmaggedon on the ballot... That one went nowhere, did it?

The average California gun owner is much more indifferent than Calgunners. Even here we still get people saying they are content having only on roster handguns, saying they don't mind the new AW regulations as long as they can still shoot trap, saying they don't mind the ammo restrictions as they reload, etc. Then there are those who don't mind the laws and politics as they love the food diversity and the weather. Surf and ski on the same day all the way!
