    Glock G36

I looked around online and found quite a few good reviews on the Glock G36. Some jamming issues from when it first came out, but current production seem to be firing flawlessly.

Anyone on here with one, or experience with one, and your impressions?

    Thanks in advance.

Good gun, very concealable with its slim frame. Is there a local rental range in your area that has one?

Always sound advice. Unf I called around and no one close has one. The two 1911's I know and love are the Kimber Eclipse Pro II and Kimber CDP Ultra II.

      Thanks for the quick feedback.

I'd be interested to know which county you live in, and what the sheriff's reasoning is.

Besides the Glock 36, other small, non-1911 alternatives in .45 caliber would include the Kahr P45, the Sig P245 (P220 compact), and the H&K USP 45 compact. You can carry the USP cocked and locked like a 1911 if you want.

IMO if your going to buy a glock 45 check out the g21sf.

I gave my mom my g23 but both her and my sister love mine better because of the short frame.

I like it better than my old g21 too.

The 21 SF is a great gun, but can't really compare to the 36 for permit use. It's huge!

Yup...pretty "blocky" to be carrying, either IWB or OWB.

what about the G30SF (short frame) vs the G36 - size wise? (for carry purposes). I'm going to the store tomorrow, but I need to make sure they have both/either in stock.

The Glock 36 is slimmer than the Glock 30/30SF. Not as bulky and easier to carry IWB.

I'm looking at G36's, too. I just held both the 36 and 30SF and the 36 is a good deal thinner. I was worried, too about the reliability issues and I'm not convinced they've gone yet. There were a few bought at the end of 08 that have had some issues on Glock Talk. Seems it'll work great or not at all. The issue is the mag plate being part of the grip. It can cause the magazine to move around too much inside and cause feeding problems. It's too bad there's not a single stack XD45c. That would be perfect. Also, the trigger on the Glock can't hold a candle to my XD.

I'm still interested in the G36, but it's not as automatic for me had there been an XD setup the same as the 36.

1911's not allowed on CCW permits...

Remember we may be monitored here @ Calguns by various law enforcement. Her permit may be put into jeopardy if she says something that makes her issuing agency/SO look bad. Not that sheriff's could be vindictive or anything like that, I mean, just look at the OC...

I do see how a sheriff could be led to believe that a 1911 pattern pistol is "unsafe" or requires a lot more training to be an effective carry gun...not that I agree though...

BTW, I have sent a PM to N69 regarding your question. If I get a response great, if not it is her CCW permit....
