    Rohrbaugh/PM9

    Hey Guys,

    I am going to buy an ultra compact 9mm. Have it down to a Rohrbaugh (any model) or a Kahr PM9 (or maybe MK9). Already have a P7M8 and looking for something smaller

    seems a Rohrbaugh of any flavor is pretty much unobtanium in CA. Have only seen a couple for sale over the last year or two and they were gone fast.

    Although I would prefer the Rohrbaugh, due to availability, looks like the Kahr will get the go ahead. Already have a P7M8 and looking for something smaller

    Few things;

    Anyone know of or have a Rohrbaugh for sale?
    Kahr a good choice?
    What is a good price on the PM9?
    Any others I should check out in that class?

    Thx

    In the free states, you can buy two Kahr Arms PM9 for the price of one Rohrbaugh.
    The Rohrbaughs are also not rated for +P ammo, but the Kahrs are.

    Me dad has a Kahr Arms P9 and likes it alot.

      Yeah, not really worried about the +P thing. Obviously nicer to have more ammo choices versus less but not a deal breaker for me.

        I like my PM9 a lot. I also have a P3AT, a XD9 sub-compact, and a SW 642, and the PM9 is my favorite by a long shot. Recoil, sights, power, and accuracy are better than the P3AT and 642, and it's flatter and much lighter than the XD9. It's also a better point-shooter for me than any of the others, and that's pretty important for this type of gun.

        I traded a Sig P239 for mine, and both of us got what we wanted out of it.

          My 1 year old vdxxxx pm9 experience is bordering on becoming a saga. It's gonna need to go back to the manufacturer for the third time - all for FTFs. At this point, I hope they don't fix it and just replace the gun altogether so I can turn around and sell it NIB and only lose a hundred bucks or two. Due to it's poor reliability, it is my least favorite out of my small guns that include a G26, airweight J-frame, sp101, and NAA 22mag.

            Kahr MK9

            I have always been a little afraid of the Kahr PM9 because of posts like the one directly above me. However, I took a chance on a Kahr MK9, the all steel version, and have been very happy with it over 2 years and 800 rounds. It weighs too much for easy pocket carry, but disappears IWB on the belt. And it is easy to shoot well at a distance because of the weight, good sights and an excellent trigger.

              Not worried? You should be, after all it's only a 9mm...

                I love my PM9 and it is 100% reliable. It wasn't when I purchased it though. Mine had trigger reset issues which seemed to be a problem shared by others. After taking the thing apart, diagnosing the problem, and doing a little filing and polishing I haven't had a single problem since. I think most PM9's are great from the start but a select few have problems.

                  eh, I'm fine with a 9mm for this application. Never been a fan of the 40. I pretty much either go 9mm or 45 on semi auto's and already have a USP Compact 45.

                  Anyone shot both the RohrBaugh and the PM9? Thoughts? Worth waiting for the rare Rohrbaugh that comes around every now and then?

                  Experiences like this are worrying though and not the first I have heard about. If I get the PM9 will be going to Cylinder & Slide for a workover.

                  This package looks pretty neat;

                    My recommendation is the Kahr MK9 Elite 2003. I have one, and love it.

                      My PM9 has shot 500 rounds without ever having a problem. Pretty accurate as well. More than just a "gut gun." I was also looking at both the R9 and the PM9 before, but the price difference and availability of the PM9 made me get it instead. $600-700 would be the expected price in So Cal.

                      The only thing I dislike about the PM9 is that mine usually won't chamber the first round by racking the slide. The manual says not to do that though, and says you must use the slide release to chamber the first round. Works flawlessly this way, but inconvenient in my opinion.
