RMR host?

I would think that the point of the 34 is longer sight radius for irons along with a little extra velocity. Personally I'm looking for a CZ or glock in a 19 size as a host for a red dot and going the dueck defense mount so I can play with it before milling my slide. Plus you get irons in the front and back of their mount as backup.

Plus you'd probably have to start playing with recoil springs with the weight of the longer slide plus throwing an rmr on the end of it.

I have a glock 34 and 17. After trial and error, the 34 went to truglo tfx and the 17 got milled. The 17 is a good host if you end up shooting uspsa carry optics or plink for fun. No major spring weight change needed, but your results may vary depending on ammo.Comment

I have the Canik TP9SFX that came with a vortex viper 6moa dot sight. That gun is really accurate. With a little spring tweaking it runs great with an excellent trigger. It comes with extra mounting plates for other dots sights and a decent holster. Here in Arizona it was with transfer $650 after buying it online.

I see you're a KTM dude. Since I'm a Husky guy I feel compelled to help.
If you are reading anything negative about this option I suggest it's coming from those who either haven't tried it or did and dismissed it.
I personally experienced slow fire group size shrinking by half. I have numerous handguns with this sight option. I own multiples of Burris, Leupold and Trijicon. I offer this only to eastablish my point of view being actual long term use with numerous in that series.
Most are melted down into the slides. My preference over any other setup.
I have never needed to change anything on my guns due to the ridiculously light weight increase. I have experienced some issues with mini holos on my Advantage Arms conversions. This could be related to the mass.
You will have no such issues on centerfires.
My suggestion is slide mount. Melted down. The Smith M&Ps CORE series are excellent hosts. I have a full size 5 inch gun which is my primary shooter. In addition they have stock suppressor sights. So you get a co witness in the lower 1/3rd of the window on a few mini holos. Trijicon RMR and the older Delta points allowed for this. The new Leupold sits too high like the Burris series. You simply will not get a co-witness if you mount the sight on top. The higher your sight the steeper the angle of convergence. The main reason I like my holo sights being as low as possible. When mounting optics on rifles you try to keep them as low as possible.
Don't overlook the advantage of back up irons. It will help you index quickly to the dot. Just a smoother transition as you adapt to this excellent technology.
A frame mounted mini holo creates other issues. What will you holster it in? Sure, get an open gun holster. Needless. That option makes sense to those guns for other reasons beyond practicality. Your gun recoils. Your gun will lift. You're still going to have to reacquire the sight after the gun settles. Frame mount does not eliminate lift.
Handgun size? Don't matter. Obviously any longer or heavier gun will just by its weight create greater stability and normally greater consistency.
From (2) 9mm full custom 1911s I built myself, (2) M&Ps, (4) Glocks, (1) Rhino, (1) Smith Sigma Yes, I even had that melted for one, to my latest a VP9. All melted. I prefer this sight option on guns I shoot. If my ccw gun was my range gun also, it would have one for sure. My current carry gun is too small for this and not designed for gun fighting. I don't carry that for gun fights. It's carried to have something vs nothing. That's a whole different conversation.Comment
