    Bought a SIG P228 today!

yea i bought one through private transfer today. Had about 300 round put through it but it looks spotless. Just couldn't resist. I just bought a Beretta 92fs italian made about a month ago. But for $500 would you turn down a P228? Did i do the right thing?

Good buy. The one Sig I wish I'd kept. My dealer just got two CPO 228's in that are consecutive serial #'s. He wants to sell them as a pair though.

Maybe I can talk him out of it.

I saw those today... well, I saw the tag under the glass, anyway.

Find someone who wants one locally, and split the cost!

I would, but I got one of the last three NIB P228's that Ordnance Outsellers had

Did you see how discreet that was. Make sure I get 20% off next time I'm in the shop.

I forgot to mention the CPO 226's he just got, but I wanted to see them for myself before I gave them up.

                            Great Deal!

I bought mine in 1994, and like most of my gun purchases was brought on because of another gun ban. Seriously, I do think the gun manufactures come up with bans every year or two, where they make some feature banned with the sole purpose of increasing sales, and for me I needed to get the best 9mm High cap at the time before there were no more over 10 round semi automatic pistols in all of America-all ready had the Glock 19 which was my other choice-so I bought a SIG 228 for $475 way back in the day, which was considered a high price then since they had earlier listed for $425 or less, and went up because of Freeaky Feinstein's 11 round + ban.

I figured at 3.5% inflation that I spent $720 in todays dollars, so you did well my friend at only $500. Besides saving the $220 I figured if I did this deal I would have saved maybe another $500 in ammo plus a ton spent on those $50 then $60 then $70 then $75 magazines I collected-they went up even higher but I figured at those prices I had enough of them.

The not so funny thing is that the 7 magazines I collected for this ended up being worth more than the pistol, and if I lived outside the PRK and my crystal ball could predict the return of the 11 round+ magazines I would have sold all of them and bought them back after 2004 for less than half the price.

Probably not such a big deal for the SIG228 though since the high caps are only 13 round which is not a whole whole lot more than 10 round.

My one bit of advice is since this was transferred to you after 1/1/2000, is that you resist the temptation to get the high cap mags-it seems real easy to buy from out of state-but it would be hard to explain having such magazines for a gun you did not own. Though if you pushed it, no doubt they could never get a conviction, but they could ruin your life by taking all your firearms, humiliating you in front of friends/family, and arm twisting you into a "DEAL". I know you did not ask for this advice but I know what I would be thinking if I bought a High Cap capable firearm.

This is a great firearm and I might recommend the crimson laser site as I put one on my pistol and now can chase a beer can around the camp without aiming (hit/move the can maybe 40-50% of the shots). Its quite amazing and impressive -just like the westerns on TV- and I am sure I could do better if I practiced allot. The only thing I do not like about this laser site is the grips that hold the laser are a hokey hard plastic-while I like the softer rubber with fingergrips-but oh well, nothing is ever perfect.

SHOOT STRAIGHT, AIM HIGH, and EMPTY THE MAGAZINE EVERYTIME YOU PULL THE TRIGGER!

Congrats! You just bought a pistol considered by most to be one of the best and finest handgun ever made in the world. I love and adore mine. Now go shoot the heck out of it.
