Some gun shops will let you handle their 'off-roster' handguns in the LEO case, so you could get a feel for some different polymer framed .45 that might fit your hands better.
Do you know if you can do this with a walther ppq?

Ill have to look up this slingshot technique, thanks guys.

I think sling shotting and racking the slide over the top with a full handed grip are being used interchangeably here to no one's benefit.

This is sling shotting...don't do that.

Use an over the top hand position...do this.

And if you really desire to use the slide stop, then just use it. People don't rack the slide because of tactical trends, they do it because it is physically easier then trying to push down a tiny lever that has a bunch of spring tension on it. Pretty sure Glock doesn't guarantee chambering if you use the slide stop.

I have a variety of Glocks, I set the up all the same way,,, IE: Extended Slide Catch, Extended Mag Release and good sights. G21SF,23,35,36.

I drop the slide any of three methods depending on where I am in the gun clearing race. I can drop with strong side thumb, or support side thumb or rack slide to release it. on some guns it is necessary to rotate the gun in your strong hand until you can reach the Mag Release. This just comes under the heading of what's necessary to do.

I personally think you should be able to do all of them on command, reason being there are several types of malfunctions.

On a Type 1 or 2 you Tap, Rack and Flip. The fastest way to do this is to use the heel of your hand in line with the side of the gun and hit the mag, then it is a simple move to go over the top with your fingers and rack the slide.

On a Type3 You need to lock the slide back first. then drop the mag or in my case retain the mag, then rack ,rack, rack, then insert the mag and rack the slide again.

Or you can lock the slide open on the last rack, insert the mag and drop the slide with either thumb or slingshot it home. It is fastest to drop it with your support side thumb as it is right there after you insert the mag.

It takes lots of practice to get good with this stuff and it really doesn't matter what brand Pistol you buy they all work essentially the same. I would however recommend staying away from Decockers of any type until you have mastered the Glock as the Decocker requires a lot more moves to perform any malfunction clearance. It is counter intuitive to try to learn on a decocker.

With a Glock you can only do three things You can insert a mag, rack the slide and pull the trigger. Much easier to learn than a more complicated weapons system.

Can you drop the mag on the USP without adjusting your grip? I can't and I have large hands. The ergonomics on the USP are my complaint about that gun. I shoot well with it, but in combat scenarios, I struggle with it.

I love the G21 and plan on buying one.

My "Go-To" is the FNX-45. I strongly suggest you try one. The ergonomics of the Sig P227 and the FN are the best on the market. Of course this my humble opinion and others will disagree, but at least try them.

Yes, and I use the trigger* finger on my dominant hand.

I have a full-sized USP9 and have medium sized hands. I can reach the mag release no problem as I use my trigger finger to hit the paddle.

I cannot reach the slide stop with my right thumb. However, I have learned to either use my support side thumb (as your thumb should be in the exact right spot if you insert a mag in the correct manner, i.e. index finger pointed along the front of the mag, pushing the mag in with the palm of your hand). That or just rack the slide like normal.

I personally feel that being able to hit the mag release without adjusting the grip is more important than hitting the slide release with one hand.

OP, if you're referring to the LEM trigger for the USP 45, I have installed it in one of mine. I've shot Glocks for years but sold my G21SF last year as I didn't shoot it much. The triggers are different in feel, but I'd say that the LEM isn't much like any standard SA/DA trigger except in trigger travel. The trigger weight of the LEM is much lighter. The closest that I can come to a comparison is the Para-Ordnance LDA (Light Double Action) trigger - long, light takeup with a palpable but light break.

As for the slide manipulation, I'm afraid I can't be much help as being left handed, it's no trouble to release the USP slide with my left forefinger and use the same finger to press down the magazine release paddle.
I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!

At my last department I was issued the USP 45 for duty use. I put several thousands rounds through it and never liked it for a variety of reasons, one of which was the paddle mag release. I ended up buying a Glock 21 to use and am much happier with it than I ever was with the H&K.

It's all a matter of preference though. Shoot both and see which one you like better.
