    One handgun every 30 days?

    Is that really a law?

Because I think I messed up. What will they do with the second paperwork? Deny it?

What happens to the gun? Does it just sit at the gunshop until I can reapply?

The DROS will be rejected, bad part I believe is that it starts another 30 day clock. So you can't try again for 30 days from the failed DROS.

What happens with the gun is really up to the shop, they may hold it for you, charge you a re-stocking fee, it's all up to them.

You will be denied and your 30 day clock resets. I drosed one at 29 days and realized after I got home. I called them to cancel but they told me that I now had to wait another 30 days before the next dros.

Were either of the purchases Private Party Transfers? If so, they are exempt from the 1 in 30 rule. Unless your purchases were made in LA, they don't exempt PPT's.

To answer the first question, yes, it's really a CA law:
                16190.

As used in this part, “application to purchase” means either of the following:

                (a) The initial completion of the register by the purchaser, transferee, or person being loaned a firearm, as required by Section 28210.

                (b) The initial completion and transmission to the Department of Justice of the record of electronic or telephonic transfer by the dealer on the purchaser, transferee, or person being loaned a firearm, as required by Section 28215.
                That is, submitting DROS.

                and
                (Added by Stats. 2010, Ch. 711, Sec. 6. (SB 1080) Effective January 1, 2011. Operative January 1, 2012, by Sec. 10 of Ch. 711.)

                27535.

                (a) No person shall make an application to purchase more than one handgun within any 30-day period.
                except PPT
                (8) Any transaction conducted through a licensed firearms dealer pursuant to Chapter 5 (commencing with Section 28050).
Except, again, PPT inside the City of Los Angeles, "SEC. 55.14. SALE OR PURCHASE OF MORE THAN ONE HANDGUN WITHIN A THIRTY DAY PERIOD PROHIBITED." from March of 1999. "

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!
