Holster Suggestions

Looking for holster suggestions for a Glock 36. I doesn't matter what type you have just tell me all your pros and cons on what you have.

I for OWB holster I like the Blackhawk Serpa, it has good retention and offers paddle and belt loops.

For IWB I swear by the Crossbreed Supertuck, it's comfortable and you really can not see a print even with a tshirt on. It's also very comfortable and for the cost, about $100 is well worth it.

I have this holster for my Glock 22 and I love it. It's plenty secure but I still draw very fast with it.

Okay cool to know on the Serpa. I actually own one for my 1911. How bad of a print are you getting when wearing it with a G36?

That crossbreed is nice too. Have you ever worn that with shorts during the summer months? If so, whats your thoughts on that?

The carry lock looks like it rides nice and high. How is getting your index finger on that release for you? Do find yourself looking for it when drawing?

Well for the release you are actually supposed to use your middle finger so your index finger can stay in a position where it is ready to pull the trigger. Once you jam the web of your hand on the back of the grip, your middle finger is right where it needs to be. When I first got the holster I just practiced with an empty gun but always did so looking straight ahead so I wouldn't get used to looking down so I never find myself looking for the holster trigger. It does ride high and tight to the body which I like. It makes sitting down with the holster on actually comfortable.

To hold the gun on my hip is my primary use of the holster... and not trying to be a smarta#$.... I'll probably end up with at least two holsters. One for IWB and the other for OWB. Never owned a G36 or anything as small a frame as it so just getting your opinions without having to try everything on or spend money only to find out its flaws later. Definitely not looking for a drop leg or shoulder harness. I probably own at least 5 holsters for my 1911s and only use two of them. Just don't want to go that route again...LOL

I use them for my X40, the print with the Serpa is huge unless I have a sport jacket or large winter type jacket, that's why I went with the IWB Crossbreed. I have worn it with shorts, as long as you have a belt on you're good, the belt supports the weight. You can't really see the print with the crossbreed even if you tuck a tshirt in. You can mess with the cant on the holster to get it to fit right for you.

One thing with IWB to be aware of, a lot of jeans out there have the metal rivets in the pockets, and the end of the gun sticks out the bottom of the holster and depending on where the rivets for the pockets are they rub against the slide. I caught it early so I had my wife sew some fabric around the rivet on the inside of the jeans and that took care of the problem.

As you said above, I think having IWB and OWB is important. I've tried other holsters and these two are my favorite but I lean torward complete concealment with IWB, Crossbreed does that and it's completely comfortable.

I don't own a Glock 36, but based on the fact it is a short barrel stubby gun I would say look at a Milt Sparks VMII, or a DelFatti IWB (good luck finding one). I use both to carry H&K P7's and 1911's with great comfort and concealment.
