At least you wont have to use that plastic tool to insert the recoil spring anymore.
Yet another example of why I will never own a P22.

There's a tool for that? I've got a new mission for my P22, I want mine to do that too.
Lord, make my hand fast and accurate.
Let my aim be true and my hand faster
than those who would seek to destroy me.
Grant me victory over my foes and those who wish to do harm to me and mine.
Let not my last thought be 'If I only had my gun."
And Lord, if today is truly the day you call me home, let me die in an empty pile of brass.

Wow that is nuts! I have a Target Version which is the same as the OP. Mine has slightly over 2K rounds through it so far, but I removed the screw that centers the front block. I am contemplating as to whether or not I should just remove the front piece or not. Overall I like it a lot and I would recommend it to anyone that wants something fun to shoot and is cheap to operate.

It's sad... the P22 IS fun to shoot. But I've seen the cracked slide pix too, and check mine OFTEN. So far no prob, but it niether accurate nor easy with ammo. Lots of cycle failures. I also read of another fellow who tried to blue (or maybe plate, can't recall) his slide (why?) and the thing dissolved in the bath. Junky zinc alloy.

All that said, I wonder if a little .25 Colt would be as much fun? I have a Beretta Minx .22 short with a 3 inch barrel that's almost as much fun as the P22...

Oh, and yes, the P99 slide is reputed to be machined steel, not zinc casting....

Well just got everything put back together a few minutes ago, and everything looks fine I took the liberty to remove the internal safety since I pretty much keep my pistol stored and locked in the case. Also stretched out the spring on the extractor a bit to try and get better ejection of spent cartridges.

I pretty much tore it down to a bare barrel, but since I have a Target Edition it is a whole barreland feed ramp pieced together. I removed every roll pin, spring and screw there was. Cleaned everything out and then re-oiled everything to make it nice and buttery smooth. I think it needed it, I believe my P22 has about 3K shots down range now.

One thing I did notice about the Target Edition and the Front Stabilizer is that if you do not have the reatining/alignment screw it makes a louder clink sound when the slide goes forward towards it. With the screw in it seems to barely push the stabilizer forward like a 1/16 or so of an inch. So that made me decide to start using the screw again, I had taken it off and probably fred close to 1k rounds w/out the aid of it. So hopefully nothing bad happens

If anyone needs help locally tearing down or getting into the extractor let me know, I made my own little tool to remove the extractor.

                p22

The P22 I had was the 5 inch model and it broke just like the picture that was posted on this thread.
