    1911 Commander Size 9mm ?

Is there a Commander Size 1911 9mm available on the roster I can't find? I saw a Colt someone was offering as off roster with the offer roster mark up and was hoping there was something new I could get even if not a Colt.

I could be wrong, but the closest thing to an on-roster Commander sized model available in 9mm may be the Springfield EMP.

I don't know if there are any 9mm Commander size 1911s on the roster, check Springfield Armory, Kimber, RIA, Les Baer, Ed Brown, Wilson Combat, CZ (Dan Wesson), Nighthawk, Sig Sauer.

If there are none, your options:

      1. Buy through Private Party Transfer with off-roster markup.
      2. Buy .45acp and pay to have converted (even if government model)
Hobbies: bla, bla, bla... Bought a Mosin Nagant... Guns, Guns, Guns...

The original Colt Commander was chambered in 9mm and released in the early 50s. Therefore if you can find one old enough it qualifies as C&R and therefore exempt from the roster. good luck!

Off roster PPT is your only choice, unless your parents are out of California.

yes but that's not the point I was making. Because they are exempt from the roster, you can buy one from out of state and transfer through an FFL! go find one on gunbroker

There are no commander 1911s in 9mm on roster.

Buy from a private party in sales forum or buy one of the 2 that are on roster, plus a complete commander slide/upper, plus see a good gun smith to fit the two pieces together. This is not a drop in process. It takes some work and mods (too long to explain here) to mount a commander slide on a government frame. Either choice will cost you a pretty penny.

The only 2 1911s in 9mm and on roster are the Kimber and Springfield in 5"/gov size. Either one of these can be purchased for around $950 (give or take).

                    Good luck.

He was saying find one out of state and import it as a dealer transfer (not PPT). With C&R handguns, the world is your oyster. They are roster exempt in any type of transfer. You can bring them in from anywhere. Hit Gunbroker and start shopping, or hit up any number of well known used gun dealers anywhere in the country.

But a 9mm Colt Commander C&R in good condition usually will run ~ $2k even in a free state.

This one will be C&R sometime this year! Buy it now, have your FFL hold it, get a letter from Colt stating mfg date. Then plan the day of your DROS. If you wait for it to go C&R it will be worth more $$ to a lot of people even in free states, so I'd imagine the price nudging up.

And you better grab it before I do That one is gorgeous

Bought one of these during the SSEv1 days, STI Spartan IV Commander 9mm:

Then built this below, my own Commander 9mm:

Good luck in your search. If you happen to find and want the STI I posted here, DO NOT BUY IT! Just my opinion but that gun does not deserve the STI name (not that STI is that well-received anyway). I will be gutting that gun and rebuilding it from the frame up.

Buy a Kimber Pro Carry HDII in 38 Super. Simple barrel swap to 9mm with 9mm mags and you’re G2G. Still come out under $1k
