Glock 30 carry load?

Anybody here have a .45 ACP load that they know works well in a shorter barrel .45 like the Glock 30?

Currently carry either 230gr HST, Gold Dot (People) or 200gr +P XTP/230gr Ball (woods) but have heard that the barrels are too short for any kind of expansion in a .45. Does it make sense to go to a +P in these? I have a 20 and 21 Gen 4, all the 9mms, etc. but have really fallen in love with my 30 Gen 4. I shoot it REALLY well, as good or better than the full size 20/21.

Should I just get a 29 Gen 4 in 10mm (or a factory slide on this frame) or is there really not enough difference that anybody or anything on the receiving end would notice a .45 slug vs a 10mm slug?

For my XDs 3.3 .45, I use 230 grain Federal HST JHP for urban carry and Buffalo Bore 255 grain Hardcast for woods carry. Both work well in short barrels.

The Federal 230gr HST will work as designed for the Glock 30. You can opt for the +P if you don't mind a bit of added recoil. But after much research, I went with Standard Pressure HST for all my .45's including short barrels.

I suggest going to YouTube to find some good studies, particularly on this load. Just search for .45 HST Ballistics test. You'll find a number of informative videos.

Best defensive load I ever carried in a .45 ACP was a 185 JHP +P from Georgia Arms. Great penetration and expansion. Nickel cases. I liked the load enough that I sent a handful to Briley when they fitted the barrel in my 1911 and asked them to make sure the new barrel handled them (along with standard 230 grain ball and 200 grain H&G lead SWC.)

Based on my sample size of 1...7 feet 2 inches. Or 5 foot 9 inches. I can never remember.

I like the 185+p Remington golden sabers. They perform well enough and are readily available and cheep.

The Lucky Gunner tests were shot using a shorter barrel than what's in the G30.

230gr HST seems perfectly fine in either pressure load. The +P load did penetrate nearly an inch more on average than the standard pressure.

I'd use whatever cycles fine and not worry about it. The differences are pretty small.
