When you get tired of shooting 45---pics

switch to 22LR,the floating chamber--one of another great ideas by Colt (after they paid Carbine
Williams for the patent rights), switch out your slide, barrel, recoil spring,
mag, slide stop to shoot 22LR,this kit is from the 60s the Colt frame
is a commercial one from 1941. The floating chamber made the recoil of the 22lr 4x it's normal self.In true Colt fashion the slide locks back after the last round is fired. You can see the split in the chamber in the pics, and that is today's history lesson boys and girls!! Pete

I would love to have a .22 conversion kit for my 1911s, but for the price I can buy another gun. Hard choice.....but if .45 keeps going up in price and hard to find, I may take the plunge.

            I envy the setup shown
In an emergency, always dial 1911.

              very cool setup
I had rather be shut up in a very modest cottage with my books, my family and a few old friends, dining on simple bacon, and letting the world roll on as it liked, than to occupy the most splendid post, which any human power can give.

Very nice! Those .22 Colts sure are something.

I had the pleasure to shoot Glock30's Ace and it was surprisingly fun and reliable.

I have that same Colt kit in my safe. Just waiting for the day to get a frame and build it to a dedicated pistol.

                    I got this for $339 delivered/no FFL required---couldn't pass it up,would
like to have the complete ACE but finding one here in CA is hard enough
and then paying over $1500 really hurts. This one got no bids last week and is back at auction---you could have won it
for $470+ shipping and NO FFL required.(I have no connection to this--just posting for info sake), Pete

So does the recoil come close to simulating .45ACP recoil?

Wow, that is awesome. Are all of the kits from Colt the same, any particular year to avoid? If I wanted something similar, what model(for the pistol), or year Colt would you recommend, what would be the best value. Not necessary the cheapest, but something with a decent buy in that would at least hold its value, and have plenty of Colt character. What is the preferred ammo for one, so I can start to stock up immediately! Thank you.

Not really---it does give about 4x over regular 22LR but does NOT equal
a hardball 45 round. This was meant to be a trainer for guys using the
45 and it works well for that purpose, the ACE is not a target grade pistol
either and Colt never claimed it to be one. I find it gives you great
practice with your 45 because the feel, controls, weight, and trigger pull
are the same. All that aside the 22 looks really cool in 45 dress. Pete
