    Kimber CS story

Buddy of mine has a Kimber TLE II he’s been shooting it for almost 10 years. Never did a detail strip and clean on it. Ran like a clock. He emailed Kimber for instructions and they sent him a RMA and shipping label. 10 days later it arrived at his door all cleaned and a brand new slide with new night sights. They removed his newish trijicon sights from the old slide and sent it back with the pistol. New slide was fitted and runs smooth.

    I’m impressed.

Note: the old slide had external extractor while new is internal.

No way??? Everyone knows that Kimber pistols and their CS suck. This your idea of an April fools joke in January???

    Just playing.

That’s awesome. Thanks for sharing. I absolutely love my Kimber and my experience with their CS also.

Sorry, he emailed Kimber to see if they could provide instructions to detail strip and clean the TLE.
Lol. We grew up together and started shooting back in the ‘70’s. He’s spent his time in the sandbox but remained ont the shooting side more than the tinkering.
He’s a hunter, avid shooter, and has a pretty decent collection of really nice rifles and handguns. He’s field stripped and cleaned them all but has never detail stripped any one of them down to the bones.

I thought this was another "Kimber rust" thread.

Great story! I have had great experiences with Kimber products. As with any 1911, if you shoot a lot, a little know how goes a long way. With good mags and the right ammo you should be good to go.

I am confused by the new slide... did it need a new slide?

Sounds like they replaced the slide because they're still replacing any slide with an external extractor.
