Trijicon RMR Type 1 or Type 2

I am in the process of having a slide cut for an RMR but the issue is will a Type 1 survive on the top of a slide? Or do I need to spend the extra $$$ for a Type 2?

The RMR is going on top of a Glock 17. Thanks.

I have a type 1 I got for a great price (200$)on top of my Walther Q5 match, I did some research and saw they have had problems with the battery contacts (10$) so I bought the battlewerx anti-flicker plate and installed that as well. I have had zero issues so far. However the type 2 can be put into auto-adjust as well as manual adjustments and fixed the contact problems so if you have the little extra I would get that. Cabelas had them for around 350$ last time I looked.

My RMR06 sits on my M&P Core. No problems yet. Since I already have the plate, I'll add a small dot of elec tape to the battery if needed.

I have a type 2 on a glock 19 with 5-6k rounds through it. Dropped, banged, and not treated softly. Still trucking along 100%

I have the type 1 RMR06 on my m&p performance center and it runs like a champ never had any issues thus far. I’m in the market for another one for a new build.

I have had two Type 1s need to go home after riding on a Glock 19 slide. Type 2 so far has been better. I wouldn't go back to Type 1 if it's going to be slide mounted. The extra $ for Type 2 will save on the postage, lack of use, and another trip to the range to re-sight-in the replacement.
