    Shield and HST ammo

This seems to be a very popular choice for self defense. What's your experience with them? Lots of good reviews on YT. Ive had a few boxes for months and decided to run some on the shield. First did some close range shooting 5-10 yds then ran into one problem while mag dumping. The round was stuck facing down, still in mag, in a way that didn't allow it to properly feed and jammed up the slide(ftf). Seemed concerning as this hasnt ever happened with regular ball ammo and appeared to be directly related to the shape of the projectile. This happened within testing 100 rnds around shot #60.
    Any similar experiences out there?

Shield and HST have worked fine for me....124 and 147, seems to shoot the 147 just a hair better. No issues loading either, though.

      124 HST for me.
I had some feeding problems at first, both ball and HST.
After 250-300+ rounds all mags work correctly, and all ammo. I think it was just break in period.

We use 147 grain +P in the Shield. 100+ rounds and no issues. Have tried rapid fire (double/triple taps), no mag dumps. Over 1k total rounds thru Shield. Been utterly reliable.

How many total rounds OP? Has it only happened once? Also, keep track of which mag it happened with. Hope you get it sorted out.

Yes Op keep us posted. I plan on using my sheild 9mm for self defense. So far I've had zero issues with a few different types of ammo. I have about 500 rounds down range.

I've ran about 7-900 rounds through it, all ball fmj with maybe 1 or 2 hiccups in the beginning.

I will run another few hundred rounds or so and track the mag. Thanks everyone, what else are you guys running through your shields or defense guns? Gold dots are next on my list through the shield they were great out of my other 9mms

Are the mags stock or do you have extensions or base plates on them? That could affect spring tension. I ask since I haven't even shot mine yet but I have hornady critical duty and HST to test thru it after 500 rounds of ball Wally world ammo

My shield has just under 1000 rounds at this point. Never a hiccup.. I will fill the mag with any type or age of 9mm I find around the loading bench...Always goes bang!

Great lil gun, that shoots like a big gun..YMMV, but it probably wont...

I've put about 500 rounds through my Shield with no issues. Maybe a hundred rounds of 124 grain Federal HSTs, and the rest 124 grain CCI Blazer or Speer Lawman. I use the eight round magazines exclusively.

                        Ditto.

I regularly rotate my defensive ammo (generally 50rds/month or so) and have not had any issues with the ammo or with the MagGuts Gen-1 spring/follower kits.

Stock 8 round mags. They were on sale this summer along with the Shield rebate so I bought a few extra.
