What to Get Next?

Planning on buying myself a late Christmas present but I am torn as to what to purchase... I'm looking for something on-roster, fun, slightly impractical, and not something you see everyday. So far I'm considering:

1) Desert Eagle .44 Mag

2) Sig P220 Combat

3) Smith and Wesson 327 TRR8

4) FN Five-seveN

5) HK USP45 Elite


I've had the opportunity to handle them quite a bit at various LGSs, but if anyone can recommend one over the other I'd appreciate it. Or if there is another one I ought to check out please toss it in the ring.

I have to agree. The Sig or the S&W. The FN using only 10 rounds is a waste, and the Desert Eagle is big and heavy with a less than great trigger.

The P220 is sweet.

Or the Desert Eagle if you think owning something a little ridiculous, no, just ridiculous that puts a you know what eating grin on your face will make you happy.

Now that santa gifted me some cash'ola I have been really eyeing a CZ97B. If you want a double stack full size .45.

I like the look of that revolver too...would be nice to not have to chase brass around, can’t say the same for the auto loaders. Also could shoot 38 special in it, or load light handloads to just fool around with at the range.

So I would be most likely to get that revolver, least likely to buy the desert eagle. It’s just obnoxious, what’s the point? if you want to make noise and empty your wallet, the desert eagle will do the trick.

Of the four, the DE and the FN are the least likely to be seen everyday. Between those two, the the FN is very impractical. But the DE is only "slightly impractical" because, due to it's size and weight, it can also be used as a wheel chock once you run out of ammo.

S&W TRR8 or if you like .45 ACP then S&W 325. Easy to reload with moonclips and does look cool and un-traditional.

Thanks for all the input so far, I went back to the store during lunch today and looked at 220 and the TRR8 again. I enjoyed shooting a friend's P220 Carry a while back and I figure the combat version will be better so I'm leaning that way. I'll probably go back on Friday to pull the trigger so to speak unless I find a screaming deal on one of the others first

I like this suggestion, but don't think it meets the "slightly impractical" criteria.

My brother in law has the TRR8 and it's a nice revolver. I have the 627 performance center which is also a 8-shot N-frame, but stainless. They both shoot about the same. Unless you need the rails for something, it looks IMO a bit sacrilegious on a revolver. I do not think I'd buy one myself.

My dad has a P220 combat that I've had the pleasure to shoot a few times. Always been a nice piece and fun to shoot. This gets my vote out of your choices.

The five seven and D-eagle would be more difficult and expense to get ammo for. Don't know if that's a big deal to you or not.
