    Getting a grip (for a 686)

So I can't stand black, rubbery grips on revolvers. Maybe if I shot a few boxes of .44 magnum I'd feel differently, but I don't, and I need to get some nice alternative grips for my round-butt S&W 686. I purchased a pair of faux-ivory resin grips while I was on my 10 days off Amazon, and while they fit reasonably well they look rough, especially if the gun is viewed from above, and the screw keeps working its way out so that they start to feel very loose. The gun looks great at a distance, but it really seems like the grips are of poor quality, and I'm thinking of returning them to try something else.

My two questions are: Is there a company that is known to make a good quality version of white/ivory colored resin grips, and are there any brick and mortar stores in the bay area where I could look at wooden or resin grips to get a feel for quality before I buy?

I really like the look of the white resin, but it'd be worth something to me just to see the grips before purchasing, and I have seen some wood options that I like. Mostly I want something meaty and with some nice finger grooves that fully hides the back-strap.

Altamont has some interesting ones, but they all seem to have a mostly open backstrap. I want the backstrap covered. "Conversion" grips look silly to me, and I really want more meat than the round butt grips provide.

If u want the back strap covered, nothing beats rubber grips by Houge. Easy on your hand if you shoot magnums.

For pretty wood and good price, Altamont.

Oh, I saw some grips by kdc or kcd or something like that (memory?!) made in Turkey. Very nice walnut at a great price.

Nowhere that sells grips seems to want to photograph them from any angle other than a perfect profile that doesn't show one way or another.

I can't stand the "ingrown toenail" look conversion grips give the bottom of the backstrap where it curves in, which unfortunately seems to limit my options significantly.

There is a Calguns member here - kurac - who makes some of the nicest Smith & Wesson grips available https://www.culinagrips.com/http://smith-wessonforum.com/s-w-rev...your-pics.html
                      Revolvers are not pistols

pistol nouna handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel
Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.
