    VZ grips for EMP

I picked up a set aliens for my EMP. Unlike my other VZ's on 1911 which had no play when placed on the screw bushings, these had a bit of slop. More than stock cocobolo's, which didnt really move at all.

They dont move when screwed down, but think they will likely start to wiggle when its fired as its the bushing fit that really keeps them in one place.

Would like to here anyone others out there who put VZ grips on their EMP if they had some play and that is the way they or not.

    Thanks

Those would be different from my 3" so not sure if its a good comparison though I appreciate the comment. Do they use slims on the 4" as welll?

And to verify, did you mean once in place and fastened, or was there no fore and aft movement at all just putting the grips onto the bushings/lugs before putting the screws in?

FWIW I dont intend to put orings, dont have issue with screws coming loose. If the grips come loose or move on there one, thats a manufacturing prob and will just send me back. The factory grips arent that bad, just like the feel of the aliens and have em on my other 1911's.

Tacos, what was the situation you were trying to fix, scews backing out?

Unfortunately I may not have been clear in what I was asking and its upset or offended some folks who read it as something else. If that's the case, I apologize for not being clear.

The question was not, hey....how to you fix sloppy grips. Yes, its a very well know fix to throw loctite and/or orings at that bad mechanical relationship if you are determined to make a set of grips work. All good with that.

Rather, I wanted to get responses from actual owners of EMPs (3 inch preferably) who bought VZ grips to know how they fit. I only got the one pair, not a box of 20 sets to try to see if some were loose and some where not. Base on my other VZ grips, I am questioning if these may be on the wrong side of he tolerance as it relates to the recesses for the bushings.

                  I hope that clarifies.

Quick update. Talked to them after taking some measurements. The agreed the orings are to keep the screws in place versus make up for tolerance issues. They are taking them back to check and confirm. They do not discuss the CAD specs on the phone.

The stepped portion of the recess appears to be machined too deep for a generic slim bushing versus those on the EMP (its shorter than most). So essentially the grip does not engage the largest portion of the bushing and is loading only the screw, unlike stock grips any other properly executed 1911 grips. Will update after they take a look.
