6 or 7 shot S&W Model 686, any preference?

What differences, other than the number of cartridges in the cylinder, are there between a 6 and 7 shot S&W .357 Magnum revolver? Any advantages to one over the other in accuracy or trigger operation?

Anyone with personal experience who can say they have a preference of one over the other would be appreciated.

As others have noted there is very little real world differences between their actions so it really comes down to wanting six or seven rounds. However, in my experience there is a noticeable difference with barrel lengths. I have a 686 six inch and a 686 Plus four inch and find the balance with the four inch barrel nicer.

I suggest you handle 686s with different barrel lengths first to decide which length works best for you and then decide on round capacity.
