    As others have noted there is very little real world differences between their actions so it really comes down to wanting six or seven rounds. However, in my experience there is a noticeable difference with barrel lengths. I have a 686 six inch and a 686 Plus four inch and find the balance with the four inch barrel nicer.

    I suggest you handle 686s with different barrel lengths first to decide which length works best for you and then decide on round capacity.
